Exactly. The only way to get close to what you're looking for without waiting months on end is to cast a wider net and expand your search area. People on the forum have flown to pick up the truck they wanted and driven it back.

I lucked out and found exactly what I wanted an hour away but would have driven anywhere in the Northeast

It's an excuse for a road trip in a brand new Tacoma. Works for me :)

I’d love to meet whoever claimed they will pay 71% over msrp in Idaho ? I have a great Tacoma to sell to them for only 65k

with a median household income of 58k for that state I call absolute bullshit

Well I am glad I bought my '20 TRD OR 2 months ago. Went to Florida to get it, but even after expenses I still saved about $5k and got a deal on financing at only 2.5% even though my loan was only $5k. It was a God thing because I had been looking for awhile and watched this rig go down in price and was less than any other Tacoma I could find. Only thing wrong with it was some minor interior scratches on the door panels and a bunch of exterior scratchess that I buffed out.

    A few.
Im guessing the 4th gen Tacoma Trd Pro will have a msrp of high 50s - 60k based on the Tundra. Previous Pro Tundra was 57k msrp compared to the new one that has a msrp of 11-12k more

I wont be buying a financed vehicle until interest rates drop significantly.

Wasn't there people paying a $100k for a RAV4 Prime once it shows up at the dealer.

RAVs are nice but $100k nice? I don't think so.

You could probably get a Lexus LS 600 for $100k, it's not hybrid but you'll still be driving it after 10 years and won't have to replace the hybrid battery pack.

For me I didn't have a choice. My 2017 was totaled and my hands were tied. With that said I was able to get more for my truck than I paid for it 3 years ago when I bought it used. We traded my wife's 2013 honda fit sport into carmax to buy a 2022 rav 4... we paid MSRP but we got more than we paid for her fit 5 years ago. so it's all relative but I do agree with your point. I sell plumbing supplies to plumbers so I get to hear everyone's political hot takes on why inflation is happening... The issue always is, why should the water heater companies lower pricing when we all just paid for them at higher prices for 3 years?

I am in the middle of shopping for a new 4runner for the wife. Been watching all the dealers within 5 hours for the last 2 months like a hawk. Just last week a couple dealers with market price adjustments($5k and a $9k) changed their ads. Now its back to selling for msrp. I see them sitting on lots for a while longer than they did even 2 weeks ago. I think the market is changing.

What really needs to happen is for people to remember the dealers who were taking advantage over the last two years and not give them any more business.

Exactly. I have sent multiple texts to salesman at various dealers over the last 2 months. First question is does your dealership add a market price adjustment. They respond yes and then they go on my do not buy list and I send them a text followed up with a email concerning how can I trust a dealer to not “markup” my repair costs if they are willing to screw a customer over on initial purchase price. The responses I get both from salesmen and mgmt is that “we are a for profit business”. Fawk em. But I do still watch their websites, 2 of the 4runners have now been sitting for a month, and I would have purchased either of them immediately. Actually I would have purchased both as I am shopping for one for my mom as well as for my wife.

Livermore Toyota has been the worst. Followed closely by Modesto Toyota.

Seeing everything that's happening, I'm definitely glad I got mine for CAD 1.5k off MSRP back in March 2021 at 2.99% interest rate. Even nowadays, dealers in Toronto are asking 5.99%+ on PROs.

Got my Sport in May 2021 for MSRP ($38,803) at 1.8% interest rate.

And before that, refinanced our mortgage for 15yrs @2.87 earlier in 2021.

Not being insulting but the timing was right for our family to reward ourselves.
