Yessir. Keep in mind this mileage is NOT realistic. It just happens that the route to Key West is 45-50 the whole way, single lane with cops everywhere so there is no real "speeding" happening. My normal MPGs are typically between 18-19 with mixed driving.

How many miles on that tank? How much idling? There's truth in that number.

Approximately 500 feet. From fill-up to the car wash on the other side of the gas station.

Very little idling. There were only 2 cars ahead of me in line for the car wash.

I was very gentle on the go-pedal during those 500 feet of travel, too. No jackrabbit accelerations as I was rounding the gas pumps.

I wish I got anywhere near the numbers posted here but that's the price I pay for big(ish) tires I suppose. :(

I find my truck mpg readout to be pretty spot on too, especially over the course of an entire tank when I compare to hand math - no matter what type of driving has been done.

I have been between 14.7-15.0 mpg for as long as I can remember. It is what it is...but I did find myself pulling one of these o_O after filling up last week at $6.20/gallon.

This doesn't change anything about your point or your post, just a nit pick about the math, but it's an absolute error of -10%. 4 percentage points. Percentages are not intuitive once you start talking about percentages of percentages.

S6 is for long stretches of level and downhill. I just discovered that my 4 cyl can't maintain speed up a 1% grade while in 6th gear, so your feeling is correct. At minimum it will need 5th, and depending on speed it will need a lower gear. The 6 cyl is likely not much different; it has more torque at the crankshaft but the stock gearing is taller. On my 4 cylinder, it's uses around 10% less fuel in 6th gear going downhill instead of 5th. That difference is probably less on the 6 cylinder because it has direct and port injection which complicates things.

40% city and 60% highway. This is from using 2/3rds of a tank (about 270 miles on the trip meter which I forgot to switch to when taking the picture this morning). Stock truck. I typically get this mpg during the warm months and it drops about 1mpg in the cold months.

In cold months here in western new england it'll drop more than that. i've seen as much as 3 mpg loss vs summer use when its 80 degrees plus.

I recently got my taco on January 1, 2022 and I have been cruising at the speed limit for six months as my daily driver and I believe I get about 21 or 22 with a distance to empty between 368 to 398. The last fill up was 428 distance to empty

Same here in middle Vermont. The cold weather costs a good 2-3 MPG (calculated per tank average)

I can easily get 20 mpg. Gotta learn how to drive it! Not race it.
