I think you guys are underplaying the trail. Its a hard trail and if your not careful, your bound to break something or hit something. I take extremely good care of my truck and it is armored front to rear and I still got some small body damage (Slipped off a ledge and all the weight landed on the slider). I keep up on my maintence and still had a major break. The trail is hard. We saw one IFS FJ cruiser on it and all it did was drag, smash and get the crap beat out of it. The trail is constant turning back and forth with a lot of off camber and ledges. Lots to drag on and lots to break on. But major props to you guys for making it. And good luck to everyone on here that is now going to try it.

Only body damage. Steps where DOM just bent due to lack of support

And a picture coming down Big Sluice in one of the easier sections of it. Tires are 35s just to give you an idea of how big the rocks are.

If we got 7 IFS trucks with zero body damage, I wouldn't call it underplayed. The very first page of this thread goes over recommendations/requirements which we all took to heart. Some of us can make up for small tires with lots of travel. And I also wouldn't exactly call our group novice wheelers. You're talking to someone who ran Gold Bar Rim in 37 minutes. Perspective certainly needs to be taken into account.
Yes shit can happen, on any trail, if you're not careful. The main difference is Rubicon is 10 miles of constant obstacles. Being mentally prepared for 13+ hours of difficult wheeling IMO is more difficult than the trail itself.

I have 1" billet solid stock with a 3/4 heim as an outer tie rod...double sheered. It's doable.

yeah, in other words, custom build only, no off the shelf products? The stock steering setup looks pretty damn weak on these trucks. Rack in the back and tiny little tie rod links. I imagine this type of breakage happens often on the trail with these trucks without building custom steering linkage.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

Yeah I don't see how we are under playing it I never said the trail was easy for an ifs rig we all know damage can happen hell its happens on easy trails. I know i can run it from Tahoe to Loon in under 7 hours no problem I did it last year so it's really not that hard if your built right

Definitely props to all you guys on IFS making it through and with little damage. It's a tough trail and like I said before, coming up Cadillac in my 80 with tons and 40s, as I was dragging diffs all over the place I kept thinking how slow going and difficult it'd have been in my old 2nd gen taco on 35s and fully armored. Definitely took skills and patience to get you all through.
