Thank you guys for the answers, I really appreciate all the information. I'm stoked to get out, but want to be prepared. Good advice on the jerry can holder up above too, I probably would have left mine on and not thought about it... it seems to far off the ground when I'm on pavement.

Sounds like I'm going to have to hit up @JLee for a pair of LCA skids. I know you make some HD hangers too, do you think it's worth picking up a pair before-hand or should I just beat my stock ones to death and then go for a pair? (ooh, just looked they're a not too cheap)

I’m starting to wonder if this guy even exists. I thought it was a trip for this year? If it’s next, I’m so down.

Drive shafts can get crushed on boulders and also snap at various places. Even if it doesnt necessarily break, if its dented enough, it’ll be a shitty ride home - if it makes it all the way before a u-joint, yoke, or even gears fuck up. If anything, the parts on it will also help as spares (u-joints, yokes, etc). I’ve had to replace u joints and a yoke on the trail before (thanks @jberry813 @Mademan925 @RelentlessFab ).

If you can’t get a spare drive shaft, at the very least grab a couple of u-joints. Sometimes this is exactly where it snaps on the DS and can be an easy trail fix. btw, the rear drive shaft has 3 u joints - which are different than the 2 u joints on the front DS:
