Dude, I wish I would have gotten a picture of the yellow JK that rolled up to see if 4WP was open. He was on 40 inch Toyo MTs on his stock axles and asked if I was going to be done soon. I was just finishing up my measurements and walk-around so I slumped off and let him go. His boy (around 15 years old) jumped out and he proceeded to pull up about halfway where I pulled my front down from and his kid said, "Comeon dad, go higher."

Kid: He wanted to show me what it would be like on the Rubicon, we're going next month!
Me: Gotcha, that's a pretty sweet Jeep, should do well.
Kid: Hah, he probably wishes you weren't here.

So, I have a problem that I've ignored and tried to work around for 3 months now. This shock is too close to the lower cage.

    IMG_20200526_202444.jpg

So I'm going to fix it by putting this in and shaving down that section...

    IMG_20200526_202521.jpg

I figure, then I can tie into other shit around it and not lose any strength. Thoughts?

Alright, I don't like my previous idea so I'm going to cut, cap and relocate the lower cage up higher...red is where I'll cut and green will be relocation point. That will eliminate the binding point of the shock. Last thing I want to do it take a big hit and blast the side of the shockbody against the cage.

I did what I set out to do today. I also need to pickup some hydro lines and use the current for spares. Those field service fittings are not as awesome as the reviews on summit.

Springs should be in tomorrow, 120->200 lbs instead of 86->200 lbs. Hopefully that kills the body roll.

    Then tires Friday. :)

Hah, my buddy Javier brought me that for picking up his metal order.

Ya know, since I learned to weld, I've never ran out of beer...

Springs late from UPS due to: "an incident outside of our control." Meh, guess I'll just rush tomorrow.

Took wheels off to get new shoes tomorrow. Hooked up crimped hydro lines, I'll hold on to my other lines for trail spares, or drinking straws when I'm in California.

Realized I cut off the area where I was going to anchor the limit straps in the rear, so have to measure again.

    Here's some pictures of stuff.

    New meats!

Swapped upper springs for tender and 300 lbs upper springs. 120 spring rate dual. 200 bottom. Yes, it's weird, but after talking to poly performance, it works. Cut down on a lot of body roll. But I don't want to do a sway if not absolutely necessary.

Also, the first picture might get a giggle. Who installed their shocks then welded a panhard bracket next to the shock mount with the bolt head pointed at the bracket?

    My dumb ass...

Built a tub box for the rear out of my old tool box. It's official, I hate welding sheet metal.

    Also mounted hilift.

Sadly, can't swing up. The small shakedown run I planned turned into a full on local run with 15ish rigs. :(

Fuck sheet metal. Anything thinner than 1/8” can suck it.

How are you liking that affordable bender? If you were to do it over, would you have sprung for a nicer one? It seems like a good budget friendly bender for a hobbyist.
