My bed rack and RTT are close to 350 lbs (without any of the bed rack accessories: road shower, hi-lift, shovel, maxtrax, awning etc) and I don't notice it at all. Wheeled in a decent amount of places (Moab, Rubicon, etc) and being "top heavy" hardly crossed my mind. So even if this camper weighed close to 400 lbs, I'm sure I wouldn't mind.

For me at least, so much of the other benefits of having this camper will outweigh the actual weight - whatever it ends up being. Clearance will actually be better with this compared to my current set up. I can't fit in my own 7' garage :pout:

    Oh absolutely

I was just pointing out factors for myself. Having been through quite a bit with the truck, I'm glad I did certain things like a heavier bed rack that connects to the frame (for when a tree fell on my truck :() or upgrading from 3/16" skids to 1/4", or even carrying 10 extra gallons of gas as oppose to just 5. But yea weight is weight and there are definitely pros/cons in deciding which is best. To each their own for sure :)

It all a compromise. I learned after having multiple truck setups and now having built different campers that there's no "one size fits all". It's one of the best things about off-roading, but also what makes choosing what to build the most difficult. What we are doing with the campers is taking as many different scenarios into account, finding the common thread and making something that works with as little compromise as possible.

Heres a quick example, and sorry for the old pics. When researching fans for the campers I found basically two types on the market, the larger square pop up fans (the one I ended up going with) and a smaller round pop up fan. Both essentially do the same thing to vent air out, but both do it a drastically different way. The small fan is compact, uses less energy and gets the job done, but compared to the larger fan falls short on features like pulling air in and volume of air being moved.

    IMG_2800.jpg

    IMG_2801.jpg

There are many pros and cons to using each different fan, but it's just one example of how much we look at the components. We didn't aim to be the be lightest camper on the market, but we definitely didn't want to have any unnecessary weight added to the camper. The weight could be looked at as a compromise, but in our eyes it's the result of not compromising in many other features that we thought to be crucial to the functions we wanted to achieve.

I know I keep saying "all will be revealed soon", and we will detail everything out at launch, but we have put a lot of thought and it's a combination of everything @Overlanerd and I have seen over the years and what we haven't seen out on the market.

That little fan was kinda awesome! 1/9 the CFM’s and not reversible, but it definitely reduces moisture. Also went with the big fan. Some people like to cook bacon inside during a snowstorm...:anonymous:

Is that not a good time to cook bacon? More importantly, is there ever a wrong time to cook bacon?

Absolutely, ultralight just wasn't our singular focus, but we did pay attention to the overall weight and minimized that as much as possible. I know many are very weight conscious, such as yourself, but once you seen what we've made I think you'll understand where we are coming from.

IMHO, there’s never a bad time for bacon! In an enclosed space, the CFM’s of the bigger fan are definitely a consideration when cooking indoors. In all actuality, I would cook bacon outside because of the splatter. And I don’t mind the cold when I’m outside.

Definitely see your point and weight adds up fast. As @Iggy said, it’s all a compromise. We are very conscious of it but are focused on function over a targeted weight number.

The combined weight of my kids, and all the provisions that come along with them, exceed 100 lbs. It’s definitely not the added weight I notice on the road... :angrygirl:
