    Hello all,

First time posting in here. I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off Road.

I saw a previous post in here similar to my issues but was confused by what came of it for end result.

I have had numerous ignition coil issues since purchasing my truck back in 2019 (bought used with 17k) Now has 92k on it and I am having the same issues as before. Check engine light on as well as the trac off light. Truck tops out at 2000 RPM and idles rough. Shakes and vibrates. I had a scan tool hooked up to it and showed a misfire to cylinder 3 (P0303 code I believe) I examined the coil upon removal and it had some rust so I cleaned it off and put it back in and the truck ran fine for about 30-40 miles. Coming back home, the check engine light came back on as well as trac off. I limped it over to an auto zone and moved the coil to cylinder 5 and had them run a scan tool which showed misfire to cylinder 5 and showed a code P0305 along with other codes. This led me to think the ignition coil was the issue since it followed the cylinder.

I purchased a single new ignition coil and installed into cylinder 5 (and have since moved it to cylinder 3) and its still idling rough and showing check engine light and trac off even after disconnecting battery for 5-10 min. Anyone else had an issue with their coil packs or have an idea what to do??

I’d swap 2 coils that you know work from other cylinders to 3 and 5. If the misfires move to the donor cylinders then you know those two coils are bad.

Look for carbon tracking on inside of coil spark plug boots and on spark plug porcelain.

Did you check the plugs ? If you saw “rust” the plugs are usually loose
