Yea these are notoriously bad. I'd have done it myself but the amount of info out there saying they killed their 20t presses trying was insane. And i don't have time or a press right now.

    Oh well.

Could have bought a HF 20t to give it a shot and return if not. But seeing as time is more important for the situation I get it.

I should probably check mine since I've put a bunch of miles with the 315s...

2nd gen front bearings go out a lot more then 1st gens. The 1st gens are sealed, not so on 2nd gens. Yours are easier to swap out though.

I have a 20T HF press basically in Powell. Not there right now though. And its my DD so time is crucial on it now that im not based in Powell anymore with Frank to drive as a spare truck.

    Welp..that didn't work.

Still have the noise. It isn't as bad and is much harder to localize. Can't tell if its the front or rear yet. May be the rear axle bearings or diff. Or its the front diff bushing.

    More investigation is needed..

Not a whine. A rumble is the best way to describe it.

Possible. I suppose the rears could be bad too.

Im also considering the needle bearing in the front diff on the driver side.

Other then those two possibilities. No idea. Im hoping its the bushing as it's relatively easy and cheap to fix.

Axle will be over a grand as i'll have to have Toyota do that..

Put it in 4wd and see if it goes away. That's the tell sign for 2nd gen

When my front bearing went I started getting alot of chirping/grinding from the bearings being dry and worn. Not so much a rumble if thats any indication to what it could be. Maybe try sticking a gopro around where you thing it way be and drive around to confirm, that how I find most if my driveline issues

So i jacked the rear of the truck up and spun the wheels. Its the rear axle..No sign of oil leaking anywhere so not sure what it could be. Its not the drums either. I adjusted them so they didn't touch and spun it and it still makes noise.

REALLY hoping the diff isn't dead. Going to drain the oil and see what it looks like.

When mine went bad they just leaked. No noise or vibration. If I remember right there wasn't any play in them when mounted on the truck. But with the axle removed and the assembly standing on end ( on the wheel studs) the plate would tilt up and down freely.
