You know how people on the forum buy a truck and say "I'm going to drive this for a long time, then I'll give it to my baby boy. He'll be lucky to get it." I just did it!

I bought this 96 Tacoma in early 2001. 71k miles. Here are my boys at the time, pay special attention to the littlest one on the left. He's 4 years old.

    before.jpg

Here he is today. Tomorrow the truck is his. 152k miles. Still runs great, and he's really happy to get her. Now...when does that Gen-3 come out again?

I'll congat him on the acquired truck, but he should wear longer shorts. The first thing I thought of was "Rollerblading" when I saw it. ;)

This site is awesome. First thing I thought of was the short shorts, and was going to comment on them but thought it might be inappropriate for a somewhat sentimental post. Scroll down to the first post and Bam! First comment is about the shorts, fawking hilarious.

Great story OP but he's gotta lose the daisy dukes

My daughter will one day end up with my truck. I'm sure of it. Pretty sure she'll also have to arm wrestle the keys out of my hands when that time comes.

What a gift! I would love to do this with my tacoma. I don't know if they'll be around in 25 years but I'd like my son to drive a 1st Gen as his first truck.

That's cool man. It's a great sentiment- I don't even have kids, but I really like the idea of passing my truck on someday. And at the same time part of me thinks if I'm able to keep it in great running condition for at least the next 17 years, it'll be that much harder to let go of.

I sold my first Toyota Pick up, with 145k miles, to an ex-bosses daughter. It was her first vehicle and she was going to use it in her first job with his company. She is now one of our best County Commissioners. Makes me happy.

Offered my Tacoma to my son last year, he turns 18 this month and has a long commute to college this fall. He opted to keep his S-10 pickup as it gets better mileage which was fine by me. Still love the Taco even after having it as a DD for the last 13 years, was having issues giving it up anyway. My daughter is already claiming the Land Cruiser is hers. Good thing I have a few years left before she can drive!1027131608.jpg IMG_20150427_123421175.jpg
