I can't believe your son turned down a PURPLE Tacoma.

That is such a great picture. She makes the Land Cruiser seem huge.

OP here. Just a few follow-up comments.

Yes, my son really does appreciate the truck. It is a great fit for him -- he goes to college in CO meaning he bikes, snowboards, hikes etc.

As for comments on his Daisey Dukes -- we both thought the comments were hilarious! I look at it this way -- he's a great son, terrific sense of humor, he just kicked butt finishing his freshman year in college, has a nice girlfriend, no tattoos, no piercings. If the worst thing we can tease him about is his choice in hipster clothing, I think he's doing OK . And BTW, he has stranger looking shorts than the Dukes!

Is that a factory purple? I don't think I've ever seen that color.

Congrats man, I'm sure it was a proud moment. Has it been your daily driver ever since you got it? How many miles now? What do you have now?

Mines a 2010, 120k on the clock now. Son is 2.5. At this rate, it should be at at least 250,000 by the time he's sixteen and he will probably think it's the least cool truck ever.

Yep, Mystic Purple. I don't think Toyota made too many. Wasn't my first choice, I wanted a green Taco but this one had all the options I wanted plus low miles. I get a lot of crap about the color but it has really grown on me over the years. :)

I had the truck and a car. So it was my every-other-daily-driver, kinda. I only put about 85K miles on it in 14 years. It has 152K miles now. But rock solid. I live/bike/hike/ski in CO, so drove it up into the mountains all the time.

I wouldn't give up on your son and the truck. When I bought a 5 year old '96 Tacoma, I didn't really consider my 4-year would want my truck. But it is a perfect vehicle for him.

What am I looking for now? I'm seriously considering the new Gen-3. Waiting to see the numbers -- MPG, cost etc.
