What plan does the ICE industry have for buyers of ICE vehicles below sea level?

You know nobody wants to buy salvaged flooded ICE cars right? There has been numerous scandals involving dealerships selling prior flood vehicles. At least once a BEV is flooded and toast it can't be resold to some poor family by some scammer down the road.

They don't ignite because they are flooded. The engine is usually still fine if it wasn't running and pulled in water. The electronics are usually compromised due to saturation.

I'm thinking if I park my vehicle at city dock in Annapolis MD, and can't get to it before hightide comes in. The vehicle could ignite and burn other vehicles parked in proximity.

I don't think people usually back their truck into the water while launching their boat in salt water. What if you accidentally back your R1T or Lightning into salt water while launching? Then you drive to work Monday moring and your electric truck batteries ignite in the parking structure. That's a set of circumstances that won't happen with an ICE truck.

What happens after you drive your EV on wet salty roads for a week straight? Will the battery ignite? It's not submerged in salt water, but is the potential for fire still there?

Will there be batteries that won't catch onnfire due to flodding? Can the batteries be installed in a manner that they are less prone to flooding?

Might be something worth looking into. There's a lot of saltwater around NA and other continents, and the majority of cities where EV adoption is prevalent are near saltwater.

I’m honestly completely ignorant when it comes to saltwater and BEV’s. I don’t think there would be much of a difference between a flooded ICE vehicle vs a BEV vehicle. IMO a flooded vehicle is a total loss to insurance either way. Salt on roads (most states in the USA during the winter) doesn’t hurt BEV’s anymore than it does ICE.

$100 dollar refundable pre-order. Hey I welcome it. if it means less competition for Tacomas in the end of the year. That is FINE by me.

oh and about a year ago I invested $100 in Lordstown Motors here in Eastern Ohio. I know the CIO and I expected to lose the $100. (It was a high risk) The stock is worth $17 right now.

Are you asking me, or are you rhetorically telling me that these things are current issues?

I think he is asking because "What happens after you drive your EV on wet salty roads for a week straight? Will the battery ignite?" has already been tested for over 10 years in real world use by Tesla's driving through northern winters with slushy salt roads for months and it never being an issue.

That information from Tesla can be found where?

I doubt any Tesla or any vehicle for that matter gets preproduction midatlantic or northeast winter testing. Conducive to real world winter driving where someone drives their vehicle to work everyday during inclement weather events.

Road salt, wet icy conditions and humidity may have no impact on batteries or batteries being compromised and catching fire.

The salt in salt water causes a chemical reaction resulting in battery ignition.

That information can be found by common sense in the fact that Tesla has sold over 4.5 million vehicles and doesn't have an issue with tens of thousands burning up every year that are driven on salt slush roads that is the majority of the USA during the winter. Road salt, wet icy conditions and humidity clearly have no impact on the batteries. Only 198 of the 4.5M+ Tesla's sold have ever caught fire. That's less than .000044%. It's a non existent problem.

Never seen a Tesla out in the slush. That's me applying common sense. Last winter unusually mild, you would have to do testing for more than 10 winters to get real results. The USPS isn't going to risk running BEV trucks in inclement climates. That's why they contracted for more gas ICE units, that's the common sense conclusion.

What you personally see really means nothing in the world of facts. Here’s a listing of EV registrations per state, you can see that there are plenty in cold weather states.

The argument was framed around commonsense. Vehicles registered versus vehicles on the road during inclement weather is irrelevant as there are less vehicles on the road when they are covered in snow and salt. Every on line image of a Tesla I can find on a snow covered road. That road has not been salted.

Got it. So of the 4.5 million Teslas on the road every one of them sits in the garage all winter and never gets driven. Makes so much sense.
