He’s 24 so there’s still a metric shit ton of life experience for him to absorb. But geeeezus, spending almost 85k at that age and then not even knowing the capabilities is just sad. I can hear him now…

“I spent X amount, this vehicle should do everything I want at all times.”

Society will only get more and more like this over time. Cookie cutter fools are everywhere.

Zero surprise that someone who spent 86k to beta test an EV for a startup co isn’t excited about his purchase. There’s a growing market demand these days for simple, durable, and reliable, all of which the Tacoma represents in spades, so also no surprise it gets name-dropped in the same article.

With his apparent cash flow, I’d suggest Rivian guy immediately buy two Gen3’s before Toyota gives it the hook for Gen4

    yeah fair enough…

“man with more money than sense complains about cost of doing something nonsensical” ?

I’d be pissed too, just trying to have a little internet fun at his expense.

Could have been worse. Could have been run over by his own snowcat. Good thing he isn’t rich enough for one of those, unlike Jeremy Renner.

If he wants a Tacoma, that is smart choice. But he has to understand that it costs less than the Rivian, runs on gas that you can carry onboard, is reliable, comes with a manual that covers many of the questions he will have, can actually bust through snowdrifts, and is quite modifiable. As long as he is aware of these things, he should be fine with a Tacoma!

If you wanna drive in 2.5 feet of snow buy a Rivian.
If you wanna get back drive a Tacoma.

The day I buy an $85K vehicle had better be the same day that my kids send me to the loonie bin! Just buy two tacos and keep one in the garage as a spare!

Rivian is still a pick up or an SUV and a heavy version of those. Can't expect it to do more than any other trruck. Rivian has marketed their products extremely well.
