starfire are cooper cheap brand. they grip like a cat on shag, and great in snow, but only last 20,000, if that.

and they are hard to balance. low quality production

“See the photos they speak for themselves”

*seller loads up 2 blurry ass photos, a poor shot of the tread and a useless shot of the tire size*

CL is just one massive scam, or reason to show up to someone’s house only to be shot over $40 for a pair of limited edition Jordan’s.

I've gotten some very good deals off Craigslist, but you have to do your research on what new price is for the used item that you are buying. Just 1 of my deals was a very nice Bakflip F1 for $350. I also bought a pair of almost brand new Duratracs for $60. Every year I buy a $25 microwave from my Las Vegas Craigslist connection dude. After my vacation, I "donate" it by the ice machine at the Hotel. I have also shown up, looked at the item and walked away because it wasn't as nice as represented.

it looks more like cheap tires that are'nt lug centrically balanced, than having a bad rim IMO

I didn't read past the first page. Every time one of these threads pops up, everyone assumes the worst. Bent wheel, needs road forced balanced, shop screwed you...

Every time I leave a shop that worked on my wheels, My truck feels like a shopping cart with a fucked up wheel. These trucks are sensitive snowflakes when it comes to tire/wheel balance. This includes mounting. If the lugs are not sequentially tightened evenly (even the slightest bit off - even with (gasp) hub centric wheels - lug centric work fine too), they can feel very unbalanced. I've experienced this countless times with wheels/ tires that I KNOW are balanced. I drive home, loosen the lugs, and tighten them properly. Problem solved.

Tire shops and mechanics are in a hurry to get you in and out of their shop. This is exponentially true if you didn't buy the product from them. Going in and complaining only makes you the customer they don't want to deal with. Go buy a floor jack, jack stands, and a torque wrench and learn how to mount your own wheels/ tires properly.

This isn't aimed at any one person, but is just a general public service announcement.

I purchased brand new Crager D window wheels and took them directly to Tire Rack where they mounted General Grabber AT tires on them. 3 of the 4 went fine but the 4th gave them fits, they ended up pulling 2 more tires out of stock to get the balance correct, took the tech nearly an hour on one tire / wheel balanced correctly, kudos to Tire Rack. Your issue may simply be a balancing situation, if not, drink a beer and get over it. I'm a cheap arse too and often buy off of CL to save money, occasionally I get burned as a result.

Those wheels can be had for $100-$200 for all 4 any day of the week.So if the tires are $115 each new,I would say the O.P overpaid.

Update I did what pigpen recommended and retorqued lug nuts and truck runs smooth now. But damn some guys are rough I mean I never bragged about how great a deal I got. Inspection was due and the ads in my area were not offering much better pricing for wheel and tire combo. Was it a great deal maybe not but I'm happy I have nice rims and the tires show poorly in the pictures There's a lot of tread on them. Will I do craigslist again probably not but live and learn. Have a good night everyone. And thanks pigpen.

I think what some members forgot, is that you also got the TPMS and balancing in your package.

Yeah thanks I did get 4 OEm tpms that are only 4 years old. Mine from 07 are still working. Only problem is I think I have to visually access the code numbers on these tpms to activate them. If anyone knows how to get code without opening tires let me know. Tia

There are TPMS ID code scanners you can buy, but rather expensive (~$100). Maybe a tire shop can read the codes with their scanner and give them to you inexpensively.

Any tire shop worth dealing with will be able to scan the ID codes from your sensors without breaking the beads, and program the ID's into your truck in a matter of minutes. I had it done last fall, the shop I went to didn't even charge me. Even if they do, it's cheaper than buying a tool that will read the ID's or breaking the beads to get the codes visually.

My tire guys have read and programmed a few sets for me for free. It doesn't hurt that I regularly buy $1500 sets of tires from them.
