As bad as I want a 4th gen Tacoma, i'll wait until there are several on the road, this will be the true test of durability and if any issues do pop up. Already seeing some CEL issues, trim coming loose and unglued, real world MPG not all that great but trucks need to fully break in and tank filled with non winter mix fuel. That's a lot of money for a mid size truck and will be interesting to see if sales are still brisk after the initial launch. Not only are prices sky high on the new Tacoma but interest rates are close to 10% making payments high as well.
Will also be interesting to see what these turbo engines do after hitting high mileage,
I know some issues popped up on the twin turbo Tundra where the crankshaft main bearings where spinning out and although the repairs where preformed under warranty what happens when vehicle hits 100K mi ? I have read on Tundra forum that repair costs are in excess of $30K and involves lifting body off the frame and replacing the entire short block. May as well just part out the truck or do repair yourself if you have the knowledge.Personally I wouldn't buy one of these turbo trucks without spending the extra money on an extended warranty just to be safe. Thoughts ??

I am waiting to see what happens to 4th Gen inventory and pricing. Who would have thought Tundras would be piling up on dealer lots with huge discounts listed on the windows.

I think it’s pretty obvious what is going to happen. Especially with the outrageous prices.

I’m so glad I’m not in the market for a new vehicle. I feel sorry for these folks.

My truck has low mileage and is paid off, best mod. Ever :)

Just to clarify my previous obtuse statement, I think 2024 Tacoma prices will be heavily discounted. That assumes people don't buy at the current prices and the dealer lots fill up. I have no doubt a few fools will buy at or above MSRP. Some people just need to be first. The more pragmatic will look at these prices and wait. And why not? I fully expect discounting greater than 10% off the Monrony label.

I think so too. Everything is so Godamn expensive nowadays, doesn’t help the situation.

It is a good plan if you don't need a truck or can resist. I traded my son's 2019 SR5 with 49200 miles which will only decrease in value although the value was excellent in DFW. I gave him my 2023 off road and bought a 2024 Off Road. I put down a deposit in January and went back and forth. Did I need it? Nope, but I am glad I did it. I guess for my age I am a tech nerd and I love the 2024! I have owned new models several times (30 years of company cars) and often had no issues. Of course I owned them for three years and 40-50k miles. But don't feel sorry for me! No car payments here!

Good way to go about it!

I can’t wait for 4G MT Tacomas to hit the lots here. Really want to test drive one but that’s as far as I’ll go.

Could you post a redacted version of your sales sheet? I’d like to see all the line items.

No, it is on a flash drive and not worth the work, but the deal was as follows. $56116 cash price of Tacoma Off Road Premium Package added for $8860 and various other add ons from Gulf States Distributor for $2861 and $500 from dealer for tint, door edge guard handle well guard and locking lug nuts. Total $56616 minus $28520 from the trade in and I went to the bank to get a cashiers check for $30200. I wanted an even amount on the cashiers check so the trade was adjusted to $28520.
Total drive out price was $58,720. Expensive Truck! Tried to get it for under 30k but I am ok with the deal. The 2019 SR5 4WD held it's value like a champ. Bought it used for my son in August 2020 for $31500 & drive out $33500.

The Tacomas may sit on lots and start getting discounts but they are all accounted for at most dealers in DFW. They do not even have the to test drive because the ones allocated are reserved. There were very few new or used late model off road in this market at the end of 2023. There was a dealer in Arlington called Vandergrif charging a 10,000 market adjustment and I do not believe those will sell.

Never, NEVER, but a new model year.
There is always crazy drop that comes up in the first couple of years.

Yeah the 2018s were far cheaper than 2016s.

Sounds like good advice if you can wait! The 4th Gen is so much better and funner to drive in my opinion, I would do it again 10 out of 10 times.

I remember the generous discounts offered around 2018. I needed a new vehicle in late 2015, so I paid close to MSRP for my 3rd Gen. Don’t need a new truck right now and happy wait for as this thread topic says “the dust settles”.

You won’t print it and use a Sharpie and take a pic with your phone? It isn’t that hard. The third gen forum has threads with hundreds of deals. It is very helpful.

Dude, I just typed all that out. Instead of saying thanks you ask for something that will take way more time. Sorry, but if you want one go make your deal.

That likely had a lot more to do with greater macro trends in the car market than some truism that prices always fall after the first year. Sure, hype goes away, but you’re still mainly dealing with macro trends.
