In my area of TX, you can pretty much do whatever you want to your vehicle. As long as you don't pass a pissed of cop... Haven't had mud flaps since the day I got the truck.
And my tires stick out a good amount.

Haha I understand the reason for them, but I was driving behind a little late 90's Mazda car the other day down a dirt road, and the tire slung a rock into my windshield. Mud flaps on do so much.

x2. The front ones were already removed when I got the truck, saw no need to remove the rear flaps. Ripped my passenger side rear flap off on a trail recently, so I called the highway patrol and they said I was ok to drive without them. So off came the other one.

I know WA states they half to be down to the midline of your wheel. Not sure on NV. Glad this post came up, I was just looking at my mud flaps the other day thinking "holy shit these are overkill".

How are people trimming them down? I want to take like 6 inches off the front and a little less off the rear.

My flaps used to cover 80% of my 33's when i chopped them down they now cover about 40% Long enough to keep the law off my back. But short enough i wont rip one off.
