Quite possibly lol. I wasn't aware they take PayPal, or is that on a per vendor basis?

I've order several small items, everyone of them takes Paypal. The three things I hate is, you read allot of the descriptions of the items they have, and you start talking to yourself like a china-man in broken English. Allot of the sites want you to buy more than one like 10,50, or 1,000. Then the time it takes to get it from China, about 5 weeks. I guess west coast it's maybe 4 weeks, anyway when I see the UPS truck it's like seeing an ice cream truck when I was a kid. :)

Haha I know what you mean about the broken English. Thanks for the info though! I've seen items before both on Alibaba and AliExpress that looked interesting. Maybe next time I'll give them a try. I also noticed some of them had min quantities that just didn't make sense like 10,000 pieces but others with realistic numbers like the link you posted earlier.

You're cutting out the middleman, the box stores are slowly going away. Someone has to raise the cash, store the merchandise, and listen to customer complaints. Their sole purpose was making the stuff, now it's selling it and shipping it out to you.

The part for 1 and 7 is correct from what I remember, I bought those pins when I originally wanted to prewire a new connector, then decided to just add the 2 pins to the prexisting one. Only problem I found with buying the pins from a dealer is they come precrimped to a wire and for whatever reason they decide to then charge $10+ for a pin, which is why I bought the ones I did, like 50 pins for like $5 and crimped them myself.

I don't buy off alibaba for the sole reason of not wanting to wait weeks for a single part. Or to realize I bought the wrong thing and then go through a painful return process (if even available) to some Chinese factory.

That and the fact that the amplifier needed for the 05+ Tacoma is not available on Alibaba. The one you linked is not correct, it looks like the original one i bought that came from a 4th gen 4Runner which unfortunately isn't the same as what is in our Tacomas. They have one with an image of a part that looks correct but "OEM" part numbers do not match up since it is for a Chinese market Toyota vehicle (A Toyota Reiz). And that brings me back to "what if I order the wrong thing and wait weeks for it to show up and waste all this time."

I gave a suggestion of that site, but you made a very good point that's why beside pictures their's part numbers. Pretty good deal 50 pins for $5, as for me for the risk I can wait.

That's true, I also just buy equivalent terminals that you crimp yourself. As you said the cost through Toyota is crazy ($10 for a $0.10 part) plus it's cleaner and easier to have one wire crimped in the terminal rather than joining two pieces of wire.

It's just greed! Next time ask them about how much an air injection pump is for your Tacoma!

My luck is I'd either buy the part for the description and get the part that was in the image or the reverse, buy the part based on the image but the description is what I get lol. I bought my electronic components off Mouser Electronics, like the pins, since you can get pins from the same manufacturers that are used in the OEM application.

    Hey Guys,

Forgot to post that the transponder amplifier I ordered does light up in white. I haven't actually hooked it up in my truck yet but don't expect any surprises. Part number is 89783-06021. I'll post once I've hooked it up to confirm that it fits and functions properly!

Last photo is courtesy of the almighty @sean266 just so you know what it looks like at night in a truck

I did ask the dealer about any price break if ordering more than one but he said he would need to see an order for 5 or so before he could consider knocking a little off the price so not sure if there were really enough people interested in this to make that happen.

Yeah it should be equally as plug and play as what @JdevTac has done. I haven't actually tested it yet but should plug in to existing connector and then two wires get added in for the illumination.

I guess to clarify I don't plan on making a kit for the illumination ring... there is nothing really to make a kit of. It's basically add the new ring in, hookup the two wires (one of them should technically be fused) and boom done.

Just sharing what I've found and if you guys like I can document when I get around to the install so there are some instructions to go by.

Mostly I just wanted to see if the dealer could cut a price break if everyone wanted to pool a purchase together and save some cash. I'm sure getting a discount out of Toyota is probably as easy as drawing blood from a stone though lol.

Missed where you asked on the price. It's about a $115 part. Not cheap considering the only added benefit is the illuminated ring since we already have an active transponder amplifier. It's a nice add on though.

The key ring isn't too much of an issue to me, really - but I like it! If the key isn't in the ignition, the dome light can get me there. The 4x4 switch is what I'm really interested in.
