@Up2NoGood Checked out that site you've provided. Looks like I'll be ordering the amplifier tonight. Minus those terminals, no way I can justify paying that much for 1 haha.

Any chance you can get a side/side pic of those 2 different terminals?

I've got these that I manage to salvage from the DTRL module that I ran in my 08. I used the top terminals when I did the manual clock mod on my 15. Just seeing if it maybe the right terminals.

Yeah I'll post a couple pics later tonight. By the the way it is 2 of only one type of terminal you will need. What I can tell you is a lot of them look the same, it is the dimensions that are important. I don't suppose you have a vernier calliper do you?

@adio I included a few extra but I believe the connector will call for 82998-24290

Haha no crimp tool also. I don't do enough electronic work to get one.

Looking at those pics, the one I have looks like 24290. Hopefully it'll work. Won't know till I get the amplifier.

Ok well if I have time on Sunday I'll try to confirm on my end that they are the right terminals. If not @JdevTac has some that work I believe with some minor alteration.

@adio It looks like I won't have time on Sunday to get this hooked up so I just quickly popped the connector off to check the terminal. Just like @JdevTac the terminals I have are very close but not 100% correct. Basically the dimensions are the right size but the small raised tab on the right side of the terminal for 82998-24290 would actually need to be on the left side instead. I just snipped that little tab off and then it goes in no problem and can be locked in place.

If I was doing a lot of them I would go and find the exact terminal needed but since I just need 2 terminals I'm just going to snip the tab off and use what I have. As I said every other detail of the terminal is correct.

Also you need to pop up a small plastic cover on the connector before you can insert the two new terminals. Something like an ice pick will be handy to carefully pry it up.

    Hope that helps!

    My question is, "Why bother?"

You already have interior lights when you get in the truck. It's like putting tinsel on a tutu... nobody will notice and it doesn't provide any improvements.

I feel like someone might notice tinsel on a tutu lol. While I don't disagree with you I figured it would add a nice touch and was relatively cheap compared to other mods. I guess one of those that might fall into the category of... I did it because I could. In reality I've never had an issue finding the keyhole in the dark though.

    No problem

Got the amplifier today. Sorry if I missed it but where'd the OP end up tapping into for it to light up? Is it simple as just tapping into the dome light, or is there a way for it to also come on when you turn on the marker lights/headlights.

    Thanks.

If you want it to light up similar to how your dome would then it would be positive hooked up to a fused constant 12v and ground tapped into your dome wire. Although there are tons of ways that you could hook it up since the LED just requires 12v and ground to be lit.

As @Up2NoGood said, you have a couple options:

Option 1 (SIMPLEST): IF you want the ring ONLY on with the dome light/door open, then you run a HOT 12V+ (I used an add-a-fuse to the 20A DOME circuit in the interior fuse box), and then a ground to the DOME light blue ground wire. The dome light ground is a blue wire running up the A-pillar in a loomed bundle. There are some threads on here that have some pictures of the correct wire, I forgot to take pictures of it. You can optionally tap into it down near the driver side kick panel but I chose A-pillar since it was hard to get to down there without unplugging stuff.

Option 2: This is if you want the ring not only on with the dome light/door, but ALSO the dash lights. So this requires a SPDT relay and should be wired according to this diagram below. You run the 12V+ (hot on IGNITION only-can be via Add-a-fuse as in option 1 but use the Accessory circuit or something that is ONLY on with ignition) to pin 86, run a ground (-) off pin 85. Then pin 30 is the negative wire going to the amplifier ring. Pin 87 you run to a dash light ground, maybe the shifter indicator light or one of the dash switches, or the HVAC wires, this is all a matter of choice of course. Then lastly pin 87a is the ground wire to the dome ground (same as done in option 1). You would still run a CONSTANT HOT + wire to the + terminal of the ignition ring (via the 20A dome circuit)

If this doesn't make sense let me know.

I forgot to add the "20A constant hot circuit" is the "Dome" circuit.

And also for Option 2 you would still need to run that same constant + to the positive terminal of the ignition ring.

    And you're welcome!
