Find a dealership you like in a state you like, and reach out to them and see what they can find. They have access to way more than just autotrader and the like, and might be able to source you a truck that meets your requirements.

ACs are long beds, we seem to have quite a few for sale here in Idaho, all around the $30-35K mark. SR/SR5 Sport and Off-road

He wants a DCLB. AC is a deal breaker. He was saying that of the remaining 28 (non AC) there were no LB.

Got it, thanks. I missed that. Yep those are rare birds. There are days I wish I got the DCLB over my AC. Like today, had to make a vet visit the large carrier barely fits back there.

Just an anecdotal comment on shipping a vehicle vs picking it up. I live in Oregon, and a few years back I purchased a manual Nissan Frontier in CA because it was the closest manual I could find. Oregon has no sales tax. The dealer said the only way for me to avoid paying CA sales tax was to ship it out of state. If I took delivery anywhere within the state of CA, I would be on the hook for paying tax.

So depending on the tax situations of the states involved, it may be worth your while to look at shipping. CA sales tax is high, so shipping was significantly less expensive in my case.

Oh yeah, good point! Know some states are frowning upon out of state sales for that very reason.

seeing a lot of low mile Tacomas pop up, where 6 months to a year ago there was hardly anything on the use market. Expect even more trade-ins with the new generation change.

That’s probably the best bet, plus get it certified used from Toyota.

Dealers near me. Count 5 DCLB among the 3.

Helped a rancher out in Argentina. Their truck broke down on the way back to their ranch. 12 spools of barbed wire 8 work bags with all the guys gear and 6 guys in the back. 4 sat on the open tailgate for about 12 miles. No issues.

Hauled my H-D FXRT in the back of my ‘89 XtraCab, from FL to CA and back. Of course, that was back in the days of steel beds and the 22R-E engine. ( And if I remember, I still got better mileage than my 3rd Gen. )

Loading and unloading was just a question of creativity and helping hands. Don’t give up on the DCLB!

That's basically exactly what I have. But it's only big enough for one bike.

Message received on the bike-in-bed. Maybe ok for the Dakar, but probably not great with the big GS.

Still want a DCLB even if I can't/shouldn't haul the bikes around in it.

I've checked the local dealers. No LBs close by but found some a few hours away. Really, really don't like dealers, but your points are well taken. I have plenty of time to look, so I'm going to keep searching.

Also excellent point on the tax implications. I bought a Lexus out of state (FL) and they waived the taxes if I registered it in my home state immediately, which I obviously did. I probably wouldn't have it shipped back to NC just so that we could do the fly-n-drive thing, but I bet that I could get Carmax to ship one to a neighboring, more tax friendly state...

    OMFG. So close to perfect.

Used 2023 Toyota Tacoma in Pleasanton, CA | CarMax

Just don't like white at all. Other than that, it's perfect - hits all of my criteria including a cap. And $167 one-way to SFO for a fly-n-drive. If it were silver or gray, I'd already booked the flight.

Oh well. At least I know they're out there.

Get some custom vinyl wrap or pattern on it. White is a great base for that.

Was just going to mention the payload. My ‘20 SR DCSB V6 4x4 has a payload of 990lbs. I can’t imagine that a DCLB with more equipment than an SR has much more than that. I’d definitely go with a nice utility trailer with removable front wheel chocks.

HA! Somebody snatched that one up already. I don't think it was up for more than 3-4 hours. Can't blame them - it was a very good price (41K?) on a loaded, low miles 2023 truck.

I test drove a 2021 OR DCLB yesterday. Not surprising that it's just really sluggish. It ticked all of the boxes, leather w/ seat heaters, apple carplay, locking diff, etc, but was priced too high to be a contender.

I was surprised that the driver's seat was electric with several adjustments and the passenger seat was totally manual with just forward/back and tilt. Is that the case for all of the electric optioned models?
