Just got my 2015 trd off road... pretty stoked.

Wanting to lift & put new rims / tires first. I like the look of 18s but see alot of taco owners going 17. is there a reason for this?

What should I look for when choosing rim / tires? any suggestions?

What should I consider when selecting a lift package?

I would like to stay away from trimming if possible.

Any input would be really appreciated. I slapped some pics from when I got her home.

    Thanks guys

Welcome! First off, I agree and say 16s or 17s. Second, all of your questions require a lot more information to better suit you. I'd recommend spending some time and doing your own research, and then ask some more specific questions.

This is a great place for resources and idea collecting. Also new to the world of Taco, you can spend HOURS on this forum and then end up penniless, but with a sweet ride!

    Welcome aboard!

No need to apologize! It took me way longer than 4 hours of research to fully understand all the different types of lift. Trust me, there's still plenty I don't understand but that's why this forum is so great! I'm always expanding my Tacoma knowledge.

Supercharger, Icon stage 3 suspension, Pelfreybilt Armor, All-Pro Sliders & Leaf Pack, 17 inch Black Rhino Sidewinder wheels, 33 inch Toyo tires, Rigid Lighting, SPod,
16's or 17's perform better offroad because they allow for a taller side wall. With a 2-3 inch suspension lift (probably no trimming needed), 285's (almost 33 inch tires) will probably rub a tiny bit at full turn and when fully compressed and also you will need a wheel with some offset (around 4.5). So that's probably at big as you can go with the setup I mentioned, which meets your stated concerns.

My advice is to get a plan of what you wish your truck's end goal to be and start working towards that end. Otherwise you might find yourself getting a set of wheels and tires, then adding a lift, then realizing that those tires don't look good with that lift or that the wheels don't have the right amount of offset.

As we say here, "if you only buy once, you only cry once". Good luck and welcome to TW!
