People call them "dumb animals" but in my book they are family.

I'm sorry yours isn't doing good and I understand that damn Cancer, I lost my best friend cat to that crap.

He held on for me as long as he could and when he started having less good days and more days with pain I did what I had always promised him I'd do and I made that terrible decision that we all wish we never have to make.

My vet was great and came to the house because Bruce hated riding in the car and I didn't want him freaked out during his last day with me if that makes any sense. :(

Yours will tell you when it's time and the only suggestion I have is to listen to them, they will tell you when it's time to say goodbye

    RIP Lucy.
    She's gone but not forgotten.
That is so sad. It's hard to lose a friend.

Take Snipe's advice and listen to her. She'll tell you. It's very hard but you have to be strong enough to do what has to be done. And your friend will forgive you.

Then take a look at the rainbow bridge. You'll see her again.

I just went through this with my cat...yup a cat. I was always this macho dog guy, then one day about 14 yrs ago the coolest little cat adopted me.
She came down with lymphoma and we nursed her for about 5 months and then one day she literally died in my arms.
    Tears flowed.

It's tough to say goodbye to an old friend but the memories live on.
    Keep us posted.

    Man that sucks...

As the husband of a Vet I hear stories like this all the time. Your dog will tell you when it's time and by the sounds of it, it might be time. I know it's hard but please listen to your dog.

I hope that didn't sound insensitive but you (along with your vet) have the power to end her pain.

I had to put my 12 yr old Chocolate Lab to sleep about 4 months ago. It got to the point where he wouldn't move, eat, go to the bathroom, etc. He had conjestive heart failure, fluid in his lungs, not to mention the terrible arthritis in all his joints. It's just time when it gets beyond the point of any possible treatment and recovery.....it' awfully sad nonetheless. My condolences to you.

Sorry to hear about Madison Joe, I had to let go of our first kid (cat) "Sox" last year. We raised him from a tiny kitten with the biggest head to about 14 years old. He slept by my side evey night and welcomed me home each day.
He had been fighting cancer for a couple of years. I was giving him intravenious fluids every day during that time as well as multiple meds to make him as comfortable as possible.
He kept on going for a while, ultimately he told me when it was time and we had to say our goodbyes and let him go.
I know it's not easy to deal with so hang in there, Madison will let you know when it's her time.
    sincerely,

Hang in there Bro, and be comforted by each others companionship in this tough time for the both of you. When life goes full circle your beloved Madison will be the first to greet you.

A poem that is so true.....

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; her eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.
