We all know that trees can be sneaky SOB's. But I need to warn you about garage doors. They're quick. One snuck up(well down actually) on my rear deck lid of my Miata....while I was driving out (Forward!) of a garage some years ago. It was an apartment garage, and the door wasn't balanced real well. Caved in the trunk lid. I was foolish enough to report it to my insurance. Not only did I end up paying more in increased premiums than the repair cost, but the paint the used faded much faster than the OEM paint on the rest of the car. When I gave the car to my son, it had a beautiful bright red hood and sides, with this ugly faded, oxidized trunk lid.

My garage is on a incline...My driveway was icy and wheels were spinning backing into the garage..I did not nudge the snowthrower tight enough against the wall and realy customized the right rear of the bed and wheel surface..I think what realy helped was getting angry and pulling back out of the garage only to further the customization!!!!!

Awww man...sorry to hear that. :D

I was one of those people who drove away with the hose still attached. Everyone was talking to me inside the car and I was not paying attention and...

    the rest is family folklore...

Seriously though, I hope your truck is ok. We need clean good condition trucks to put on a good road warrior scene for our Texas invasion. :laser:

Thanks for all the responses guys. But the story only gets worse from here. On the way back from Charleston i rock hit my windsheild and put a chip in it. I dont think it's too bad but i have to keep an eye on it... if it starts to spread i'll have to report that to my insurance company too...... 4 claims in 6months, only one of which was my fault :( What's gonna happen next? with my luck a bald eagle will swoop down in front of me on the interstate and destroy my grille, then i'll go to jail for killing an endangered species....

BTW, i just got the "control z" joke.... pretty good :)

I sorta do IT (communications/networking, OS Config, desktop support, server support, limited application development, etc...) - I work in SCADA for an gas/energy transportation company. So I deal with a networked database application, a controls network, and field devices.

    CTRL-Z is my friend. ;)

Unless you get free glass, though be careful sometimes its a per year limit claim or unlimited. On my old beater mazda went through 8 pieces of glass in 2 months :frusty:, 6 of which were due to uncovered loads (had a big ol tree branch actually pierce the glass and come into the car a good 2 foot ,luckily I didn't have a passenger with me).

In SC if you have full coverage, glass is replaced with no deductible. The last time i used my insurance for i was sitting in line in a drive through and one of those industrial mowers shot a big rock through my back window (over $600 to replace it) When i called the insurance company i told them that i didnt want my rates to rise and if i had to i could make the landscaper pay for it. I was told by 2 different representatives that glass claims wont raise my insurance. Although when you add that to the beamer and the tree i'm worried about how much it will go up. I'll probably end up claiming the back end then just ignore the chip until it starts to spread then get it replaced.

Get the chip filled so it won't spread. Epoxies are a wonderful thing.

Or i could just milk my insurance company for all they're worth and then cancel and get another company. Since none of these were actual accidents with police reports (except for the beamer which i was not driving) do you think other insurance companies will be able to access the information. What i mean is, can other companies check my history with Geico and see that i made 4 claims in 6 months?

That's a damn fine question. I hope someone out there has the answer, cuz I'd like to know too. My guess is yes, just to discourage what you're considering;)

Aren't there rules about companies sharing information that allows price gouging? For example, its against the law for two gas stations next to each other to get together and decide to consecutively raise prices. Sort of like that King of the Hill episode (if anyone knows what i'm talking about). i think it might be illegal for them to share information that would make my rates go up

Yes. Insurance companies here have access to any one's claim history and I'd suspect it is the case in the US too. Think of it as an "Alliance" ;) linking their claims data base with each other in order to reduce losses and maximize profits.

Typically, when you go to a new company they ask you for full disclosure of your claims history for 6 years and then they check to verify. If they find any inaccuracies or believe you are dishonest, you will be denied insurance. Your claims history affects your rates for 6 years, in the frozen North.

All is right with the world again! Last night i finally got my truck back! I cant even tell you how good it was to get out of that tiny Camry and back into my beast :) I hated the Camry, it was to hard to get in and out of, the steering wheel was sitting in my lap, there was aboslutely no power in the 4cyl, and none of the windows were tented. I felt exposed all the time. Honestly, i have never in my life been in a car that sluggish. that car is too big for the small 4cyl they put in it. when you hit the gas from a dead stop it litterally feels more like someone is outside pushing your car than the engine doing any work. I almost got T-boned when i first got it cause it just sat there when i floored it. The 4cyl they put in the taco may be sufficiant but the one they put in the Camry is WORTHLESS! And the transmission refuses to downshift, but only half the time for some reason. sometimes when you floor it it will downshift, other times it will just accelerate in whatever gear its in. Anyway, when i got in my truck i just sat there and sighed. I have never felt so good getting in a car before. While it was in the body shop they also went ahead and performed the TSB for the suspension, which i will review in a seperate write up as soon as i post this. I just wanted to express my newfound appreciation for my truck. I've always loved it but after being in an EXTREMELY underpowerd Camry for two weeks i have a newfound passion for my baby!
