Double cab long bed would my choice. And also what I bought. The access cab is useless for me. Short bed is useless to me too.

The grey is fine it sorta grows on you i'm in the desert quite a bit with the truck so tactical brown would have been perfect but that's ok. Sometimes i need to estimate jobs for wealthy homeowners and the grey is perfect for that sort of thing more conservative contractor looking. I'll definitely be trading it in eventually so next time i will get the brown.

A few questions i have someone here may be help with.
I removed the cast aluminum running boards and i'm wondering if they'll bolt up to a double cab?
What sort of wax can i buy that will help prevent paint fading? Possibly a ceramic? I definitely don't want a faded out roof in 2-3 years that will definitely hurt me on the trade in.Sometimes that truck will sitting out for hours in the desert sun.

Nice choice. It's always more satisfying when you stick it out. I must have been a hermit in a former life since I've always preferred the extended cab version to double cabs even before clamshell doors first appeared. Now, it's a no-brainer. I can imagine having a DC in my dotage when I'm no longer capable of working and only fit for chauffeur duty but for now I've even pulled both jump seats in favor of the space they occupy.

The access cab is perfect for me rarely will i ever have more than 1 other person in the truck and it's nice having those clam shell doors for full access to gear. I need that bed wide open most of the time so i stuff my tools and gear in the back seat area.I just picked up a killer case on ebay for my husqvarna saw I definitely don't want bar oil all over the back seat area like what happened with the Nissan. I definitely need seat cover not sure what i'm going buy for those. That will be the next thing gear and bar oil all over the seats. I may even remove 1 or both backseats. I'll probably do some sort of custom bench so after hunting or whatever I can pop a few cold beers take a nap and then drive home. I don't play that drunk driving game, around here i wouldn't drive after having even 1 beer. Shame they didn't have a bench seat option for the back seats.

So i put some real deep scratches into the trucks paint job today working an overgrown lot they are bad! Do they sell anything that can help prevent or lessen the scratching, maybe that ceramic coating?

Wrap it. You know those add-plastered cars? They're done with a vinyl skin. It's a custom shop job unless you want to go through the learning curve and DIY..

No, but it is about as long as a Tundra without it's back bumper.

I highly doubt anybody regrets getting their lb. The available space is VERY convenient and used, and doesn’t look weird. The sb’s look like the cans bigger than the bed and it just reminds me of a hummer:rofl:

Big cherry(dent) in the truck last night and it's not good. Right in the tailgate section also! It's possible Diego my auto body guy can fix it with a dent puller??? i just don't know and have my doubts.. Sucks when i was backing up the tree didn't hit the bumper where it was supposed to.

If the dent isn't creased you can try paintless dent removal. The tin is so thin these days they can massage the metal back into place.

Did you get your truck already? I didn't want to read through all those pages. Anyhow I was in the same situation as you when I was looking for a Tacoma. AC (access cab) or DC (double cab)? I went with DC and I am so glad I waited and decided to go with DC. AC would not have worked for me. We have dogs and I like to put them in the back seat. Mind you I was looking at the 1st gen so I'm sure the 3rd gen has better AC access. With a AC on a 1st gen it would of have been a big hassle to put dogs back there since I would have to always move the seat up every time. Even that I still don't know how much room we would of had for the back seat for the dogs to get in and out. Also we have puppies as well that we used a crate with. That crate wouldn't of been able to fit back there let alone have enough room to put it in. With the DC none of that is an issue of course since it has it's own full doors. Another nice thing with a DC is that there is plenty of room to easily put other equipment/bags behind us if we don't want to put it in the bed for security or weather purposes. I have yet to use the DC back seat, they are always folded down. However if we do have any other passenger with us it would be nice for them to have plenty of room and their own door to open and close. My parents have an older Tundra AC and it was a little annoying at times to have to remember to open the AC door for your passenger. DC passenger also have their own window they can roll down instead of pop open, again not sure if this is different for 3rd gen. I don't use my bed often so I didn't mind a shorter bed, but it's nice to know I have a bed if I ever needed to carry something that big. Every homeowner should own a truck and a short bed is all that is needed most of the time. Worst case, if you need a longer bed you can always rent a trailer. Of course everyone needs and situations are different so you can decide what would work best for you.

Sorry to hear your new truck got a ding.

Probably a good idea to take some pictures, and post some if you can.

The tailgate is removable, and bed side cover is also removable, fwiw.

    Good luck with the repairs.

i'm trying not to look at it until tomorrow morning I have the day off, i'll post up pics soon.

I think a pro can fix it. I had a dent in my Frontier deeper and bigger that was fixed, but this is in a bad spot where a natural curve to the tailgate is located towards the top. We'll see, all I could think about was a few hundred leaving my wallet. That safety backup camera system is useless when clearing lots with trees btw. I guess this is a wakeup call I forgot how thin the metal was on these trucks.

In regards to off road capability and traction in mud/snow the tires are more important than the bed/cab/wheelbase configuration. You should just get some Duratracs and you’ll never have a problem regardless of which truck configuration you get.

When I bought my truck in 2016 they also weren’t selling MT with AC OR, which is why I ended up with a DC instead. Oddly enough they sold the MT AC OR 30 min away in Canada, so that was annoying to find out. I am not sure what is available these days.
