I know and fear it even though i'm claiming my woman is irrelevant on this truck purchase she won't be if we have a child but that's years away hopefully. No way can we afford to have children right now.

What about rock crawling, mud and that sort of stuff do you think it's equal to the dblcab? Are you happy with the access cab vs the dble? that definitely helped the snow I would be dealing with is no more than that depth.

I bought the access cab and am as happy as a pig in warm mud! Don't need four doors and seats I won't use. If you are going to have kids they will fit in the access cab until about 5 then not so much. Besides Access Cabs look so damn nice:mudding::oldglory::yes::yay::woot:

Best decision I made. And yes less cuts is always better. The winter before last was the worse winter in 30 years truck worked great. No sand bags or chains. Decide this past winter to buy a few bags as a just in case. But you also have to think about what your needs for the truck is. I didn't get the double cab cause I'm only 21 and don't have to worry about having kids for a very long time. Plus I didn't need the extra seats.

Also I've managed to pack for week long camping trips and fit most of my camping gear in the back behind my seats. Even with my 6'10" boyfriend. I haven't had any problems spacewise

Never driven a DC so i cant really compare....nor have i done any "rock crawling"....

ive taken it through mud, deep snow, rough rutty roads......the kind of "off roading" most of us do with our Daily Drivers....never given me any doubts as to its off road capabilities.

its going to be lighter than the DC, which is a plus pretty much everywhere......other than that i really doubt theres going to be much of a difference in capabilities.

but overall ive not regretted getting the AC over the DC

I struggled with this when I bought my TRDOR. Ultimately it came down to two things, couldn't find the color I wanted in AC, and also for me, I felt like the DCLB was more truck for the buck. Maybe if there was a bigger price reduction for an AC it would have swayed me.

Both will crawl just fine. Again, same wheelbase, similar weight, and same drivetrain. Don't base your purchase on the off-road capabilities, because they will both outperform your own driving skills. :D

The savings on the access cab is being negated by the safety sensor $785 package so i'm leaning in your direction. also you can pretty much get any color you want in the dble cab.

Your firewood will season faster if you cut it to length. Who in their right mind is going to wrestle 5' of 6' firewood. I don't consider limb wood firewood. You want rounds anyway, split those when you get home. ;)

My advise get a long bed, access cab. Crawl control is automatics only.

Op just want to make sure you know there are 3 configurations
AC (ACLB) which has a 6 ft bed
DCSB has a 5 ft bed
DCLB has 6ft bed. Whole truck is a ft longer than the other 2 configurations.

You keep saying with a longbed you don't need chains, why does that change the need for chains?

Yes, they’re equally good in the snow. I can see what you’re thinking, but the dcsb isn’t going to be better in snow; you’re thinking the heavier truck will do better, but the weight over the rear axle still leaves an open, light bed. For your working loads you’re going to be hauling, the extra foot of bed space may serve you better. I loved my access cab, but in the end I realized I had bought a factory screw up, if that hadn’t been the cas, I would of kept it.....I’ll get another one day.....in an access cab!

Try another dealership. My dealership got my tan taco from another town without an issue.

P.S. I got the double cab to carry more people, and I didn't need a long box. And it just fits in my garage!

You can get any color on the access cab.....the dealer is just being a jerk. I had quicksand......they had to order what I wanted, so I waited. The safety sense is on all models now, but the access cab is still cheaper.

Man, I would say the MAJORITY of the users here are weekend warriors at best. Not a lot of folks here, especially in the 3rd gen subforum, goes hammering out on tough trails. You're in good company.
