I also went through the same . Dcsb vs access. I went with the dbl. yes you lose some bed space (1 ft) but so much more interior room . If your old lady is gonna stay with ya get the DCSB. If you have a kid road trips on a jump seat suck. Been down that road. The short bed handles awesome the snow. I told several dealers I’ll drive 4 to 6 hrs if the price is right. They’d email me the price and then off to the next dealer trying to beat the price.

But.... sounds like you need the bed space more than interior comfort. Get the a/c. Girlfriends come and go!

I haul my ton of crap in the bed under the canopy. Best way to save on expenses is to ride with someone else. "If you don't like my truck we'll take your's".

Not the size of the bed that matters, it's how you rock it.

Oh and DCSB and AC are the same overall size. Just saying.

Ok so I have been busy working but i have an update. I'm currently working with a Toyota dealership in Bakersfield to acquire an access cab model. Here in SoCal they didn't have any TRD access cab models and couldn't really source the vehicle because it was out of their acquisition range or whatever. After looking at the 5' bed no way is that going to cut it for my purposes. The Bakersfield dealership sent me an email today and they have sourced a vehicle from a partner dealership so we'll see how that goes. Regardless I really like these Toyota people in Bakersfield so if the deal falls through i'll have Bakersfield order one directly from the factory if necessary. I really appreciated them going the extra mile for me and they definitely want and deserve my business. Everything is fine with the model i'm looking at the gun metal grey. I wanted the sandy taco color but that's ok the grey is fine. The only extra options I didn't want that are included built from the factory is the dual climate control but that's not a deal breaker.

Thanks for everyone's opinions and advice I definitely appreciate it. I'll update as this deal moves forward.

Just make sure you are happy with whatever you buy, don’t buy just because you feel obligated towards them, get the exact color and configuration you want.....it’s your money.....make them earn it!

Everything looks good from the spec sheet the dealership sent me. The color will work it was a toss up between the grey and brown so that isn't a deal breaker either. The climate control option was about $600 extra so that's also ok. We'll see what happens regardless the salesman i'm working with said he can order me a new one from the factory in a reasonable amount of time versus the Socal dealerships that didn't seem enthused about ordering one. If the deal falls through I definitely feel comfortable ordering one and I appreciate them not trying to upsell me. No nonsense dealership and sales people that's a huge plus versus some of the sales people i was dealing with in my area.

LOL THANKYOU !!!yea man i'm good with having 1 passenger preferably another man and my dog in the truck. The little jump seats in the back are great at keeping the unwanted people out! I can't wait to work this truck i even have a power assist tailgate LOL it will be weird adjusting to that i'm so used to the slamming noise.
