I went with a simpler route. I threaded my cord down the window frame (pushed it under the plastic with a trim tool) then up under the passenger side dash. I then got a $2 USB 30 inch extension cord. I ran this tucked under the center console (just pushed up between the carpet and the plastic) then up and into the console storage and plugged it into the console storage lighter plug. It gets power only when the truck is running.

I originally intended this set up to be quick to install and temporary until I had the time to do a fuze box install. However, this turned out to be a nice clean looking, simple and trouble free install. So I have just kept it. No fuze box hook up, no wires showing conspicuously, fast, and simple.

I actually measured the current required by my dashcam once (I have a regulated DC power supply 30V/5A) and it showed a current draw of about 150 mA.

I just used some double-sided tape to hold mine on. Two years later it's still holding up.

The late pelfreybilt did, there are others I’ve seen that have produced similar ones and a lot of people make their own
