    somehow...

sorry, I had to go there...:p

Glad to see you are owning up to it and accepting it. You are lucky that legal repercussions will not follow.

I say fix her up and make her your trail buggy. Or part it out and get a 4wd.

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
I'd just drive it..some new springs and your good.

or you can take the bed off..build a flat bed..add trailer lights.
Go get a cab for $500-600 at a junkyard and toss it on..good to go!

So, wait, the cop still let you drive off? WTH?

OP ... good on you for owning up, but shame on you for doing it in the first place. Cheap life lesson there. G'luck with the parting/selling dilemma.

    Canada Eh!

On the lighter side....(if there is one, I try to find any available humour in even the worst situation), I didnt know 1st gen tacos were available with 4 wheel steering! Would make parallel parking so easy!:D

Seriously tho, lesson learned ( I hope). Now pick up the pieces and move on!

    Cheers!

I'd actually say the damage is not all that bad. New leafs and it would probably drive. replace door, fender and bedside. Have the cab behind the door pulled out. All the glass being intact leads me to believe there is not much if any structural damage. it's probably between 2-4k to have a shop fix that, less if you did a lot of the work yourself.

I won't nag you too much about the d&d because you manned up, but if you do it again you more than deserve what you'll get.

I'm weighing my cost, I'm not sure what I'm doing with it yet... The door hinge post are bent, I don't think even if I put another door on, that it would close. That's why I was looking at switching cabs.. worse come to worse, I'll be driving an early 90s Ford ranger 4cyl 5-speed until I get out of college, they are pretty cheap, then I'll go get another tacoma.

My truck was parted out and sitting in a pasture when I bought it. Putting it back together is my goal now.
I'm working on a nearly ground up rebuild right now and it's not as bad as you would think. I'm sure you could get a decent cab for not a whole lot. Salvage yards have a hard time selling the cabs and more often than not they just end up in the crusher for metal recycling. Just remember to use lots of plastic bags with labels to let you know where the screws and parts go. Your frame may not even be bent. The only thing is that it does take a decent amount of time and it's hard to do with school.

If you unplug all the wiring harnesses to the cab, disconnect the heater core, ac evaporator, seat bolts, and steering wheel column you can probably just lift your cab mostly intact. which will make it easier to move parts from one cab to another after you get the new one in place.

There's no shame in driving it like it is for awhile anyways after you get that spring sorted out. I'd rebuild it. Google certifit for cheap body parts, like fenders, lights, and maybe doors.
