I changed the alternator on my FJ at about 135k. I wasn’t peeved, just a little disappointed. 50k miles later it sold and the alternator was the only repair in my 10 years. That’s what I hope for out of my Tacomas.

Dang, if you change basics, it will last you even longer. I have a 2000 Civic with 165K that I daily drive and my two Tacomas get to sit.

There's 2 different gens of RAM 1500 on my block...let's just say those things always got the hood popped too. Glad I went with Toyota also. Sure it can't haul like the 1500 but at least ot starts every time.

Brakes, tires, plugs, oil, fluids. That’s about it. Maintenance stuff. But only the one repair.

My brother had a Chevy truck. One morning we were going hunting and he started it to warm up. 10 minutes later we got in the truck and it wasn't running and would not start, the oil pump had failed and the engine froze up. We got in my Tacoma and moved on.

    Ama right? lol

Sometimes you don’t know you have a leak until you see it the next day, he might have stopped it then. Who knows.

Seems like it was “parked for multiple days with the hood up” per the prior description. That thing also looks Pretty new …

I suppose there could be a death in the family or some other urgent matter but otherwise wtf.

that model is at most a 2016

Haha, you’re a good sport. At a place I worked they were afraid of anything entering the storm drains and any leaks from vehicles in the parking lot had to be reported (coolant, oil, you name it).

Man things have changed from when we drained the oil in ditches out on the farm. I mean the ground is where the oil came from in the first place.:D

In the neighborhood I grew up, if I were to leave my hood open like that, somebody would steal the battery in a couple hours and anything else that's easily removable from the engine compartment.

That's what is good living up here most of the time you can get by with no worries however we have our thefts. I just feel for the guy it's bad enough when you have car problems, it feels worse when temps get so low, tow trucks get several days behind for non emergencies.
