I sold my '97 12v 4x4 Longbed Cummins to buy my Taco. Didn't need it anymore but I loved that truck. True reliability, I owned her for 7 years and put 140,000 miles on her and NEVER had to put her in the shop. Had 210,000 miles on her when I sold her, changed the brakes a couple of times and oil regularly and that's all. Best truck ever made hands down.... No offense to my Taco.

My friend in CO helps run this site..you'll be hooked. He races his and does tractor pulls with one of his 2. He has a either a 99 or an 01 x-cab long bed that he drags and races and his 07 shortbed 4 door is his daily driver. I'd buy one right now given the money.

12v or Common Rail 24v is the only way to go.
Owned both one common rail and three 12 valves.

BTW the NV4500 (5speed) isn't bulletproof even w/ billet input, output, and intermediate shafts. Fully built billet Garmon or Goerend Auto is the way to go!

Ya I would definatly buy one or maybe trade the Tacoma in for one as well. Im the same I tow and haul a lot of stuff that is always way over the limits of the Taco. And the full size would be much safer and less stressful in bad situations.

This is what I would like to have with a custom flat bed on it.

Judging by the thread, I'd say the Raptor was mixed. Most of the long travel guys were drooling over it.

Two completely different trucks, but CUMMINS FTMFW. Best diesel Engine hands down and right at the same level with the legendary 7.3L powerstroke that Ford retardely stop making. But, I don't blame your thought process.

The reasons for designing a new engine were sound. The new engine was not. Ford needed to meet new emissions regulations *cough* california *cough* International decided it was easier to do this with a smaller displacement engine than the 7.3

We could get a diesel toyota truck....

If regulations weren't so strict on importing cars. Or maybe someone with an older Toyota pickup can do an engine swap?

The allison isn't all its cracked up to be

A set of 6 brand new injectors for the cummins is $3000 not including any labor.

If you get remans you can get them for around $1000 but not many people have had luck with remans. I went the reman route and I think one of them may be going out again
