220,000 miles on my 04 prerunner, 2 whl drive v6 auto. As I have read in other threads it seems like this is the mileage in which the ignition key and lock set start wearing down and creating a bunch of different malidies. Bought a new lock set, installed, it still refuses to go past ACC when shuting the engine off, therefore radio, key alarm remains ON. If I remove the negative battery cable I hear a click under rthe hood, and can move the key to the OFF position and remove the key. Some threads indicated that if the bushings in the floor shifter are worn out this can be a symptom. Today I replaced "non-present" bushings and indeed the shifter is firm and feels great! No change in the ignition key area. Any words of wisdom to share before I ditch this truck!!!
