The only way to get "rumble" from a 3.4L v6 is an LS swap.

Otherwise it will sound like a fat guy gargling.

As a former redneck, I used to have straight pipes for about a year, before the constant droning on the highway, and having to yell at my passengers got old. I also had to crank up the stereo super loud to even hear the music. It was bad. I put an OE spec muffler in and it was music to my ears. I now run a Dynomax super turbo and it's maybe 15% louder than stock, it's perfect. Having a cutout would be cool to dick around with.. but you definitely should hook that up straight to your battery if you want to be able to use it even if the truck is off.

I mean at least you can "turn off" the straight piping, I can see how it would be fun just to mess around with. See my previous post

There are plenty of exhaust mods. Most just center around recognizing that this is a low horsepower Japanese v6. There's no "rumble" lol

There are some headers out there, magnaflo mufflers, sweet chrome tips, etc...

    Why?

Exhaust leaks just make it sound cooler.

@jbrandt I'm not looking for sound that's like the Dodge Demon or a Jaguar F-Type. I understand what engine I'm working with here lol. You better be thanking me that I didn't get a 4 banger. I would've straight piped and slapped a damn fart can on there.

A bit of terminology here. You don't need a 12v power supply, that's what a 12v battery IS. The battery/alternator is your supply.

You just need to run a wire from the positive terminal on your battery to wherever you want the controls/relays. Just make sure you fuse the wire within 18 inches of the battery to prevent electrical failure/fires.

When we say "power supply" usually what that means is some kind of a source, and some kind of voltage regulation. In cars our source is always the battery & alternator. If a device uses the 12v source from the car that device likely has it's own internal voltage regulation because the 12v source on a car is a range of acceptable voltages somewhere between 11.5 volts to 15 volts which means all the digital devices in your car need their own voltage regulation to ensure proper function.

A tuned 4cyl with a big turbo and high flow headers/exhaust IMO sounds pretty damn good, actually.

But when bros throw a resonator tip on their 1.6L civic it just sounds stupid. While straight pipes do give you a *little* bit of top end, you loose low end torque, and you don't gain all that much top end anyway, especially relative to how much more noise it produces.

If you want a motor to sound loud and powerful, you need to just make it loud and powerful. Form follows function. Slap a super charger or turbo on it with headers and a big muffler and tune it.

It looks like it just plugs into the cig lighter. add a fuse holder thing that was posted on the last page and run it off the cig lighter fuse circuit.

I don't get why you want to turn it on or off with the car off though? pretty sure the key has to be in for you to hear any difference.
I would wire it to a switched 12v, and you can still turn it on or off before you start the engine.

I actually did put a fart can on my GX470 with the v8 and... it sounds amazing :D

I run a full 3" exhaust with an electronic cutout (with remote control) after my bank 1 o2 sensor but before the cat. It's your damn truck man do whatever you want!

How so? It happened. I dont have pics, but all exhast valves had damage after he converted his 2002 to a track rally car and cut the pipes.

And if you cut out cats and the sensors, they wont like it either - OP mentioned his cutout would not include the cats and sensors after my post, so yeah, his sensors and emissions/air fuel mix would be functional.

It all depends on where the cuts are.
