So what I'm gathering is that it would be a bad idea to try to change the exhaust on my I4, correct? I want something to sound a little deeper

 

no 4 banger ever sounds "deep" unless its a boxer. even those sound like a dying goat

 

I had a Flowmaster 50 on my 2.7 and it sounded really good (to me and i dont give a fuck what others think) but it did drone in the cab. I ended up going back to stock because on the freeway at 75-80 any incline and the tranny starts dropping gears. The drone got annoying. But honestly man its your truck and your money. You do what you want. This is just my experience.

 

This sounds killer to me.

 

No offense to you, but you can’t be serious... If you say that the sound made by the boxer engine (such as the STI), sounds horrible that is definitely your opinion. This is coming from a previous Evo owner. We hate STI’s and I’m still telling you that what you are saying is BS. That’s my opinion. Never heard a dying goat sound like this. You must be thinking of the Honda Civic.

BTW these are turbo cars which shouldn’t even be loud. Trust me 4 bangers can sound great even through shitty video quality.

As was said above, about the only sad exhaust note is one hooked to an AT, esp a CVT.

For the money, the Evo and Sti’s have made a lot of E-46 M3’s, Corvettes, Vipers, etc. cry themselves to sleep at night. Lol!!! Glad you guys know what I’m talking about!

I put an aftermarket exhaust on my wrx when the stock rotted out b/c it was cheaper than OEM replacement. Maddad whisper, real low key nice deep rumble at idle and lower rpm, but man when you put your foot in it it opened up and roared.

Wish I could Frankenstein one onto the taco but it'd probably sound like ass lol.

 

I have a MBRP exhaust and I like it. I have had it for a few months now and I still like it. I didn't get it for additional HP or MPG's. I wanted to hear some noise. The truck was just too quiet for me. How the hell can I upload a video for the sound?

your right that is my opinion. just like you saying they sound good is your opinion. doesn't mean its right or wrong im just stating what I like I guess. also own a 08 evo with an ams turbo back and I think it doesn't sound all that great.

My favorite is the ridiculous song that the flat plane voodoo V8 engine in the GT-350 makes. ..and I'm not a Ford guy lol.

OVtune may be coming out with his own exhaust for our Tacos (oh and twin turbo kit BTW), we'll have to wait and see how that sounds/works with the tune.

 

The X’s don’t sounds as good as the 8’s and 9’s for whatever reason. You still have a great car though. I miss mine so bad. I will get another.

yeah I wanted a 9. too bad they aren't available in Canada. my buddy had a fully built 9 that I wanted to take of his hands until he crashed it into a concrete barrier. the 4b11 just doesnt have the same oof as the 4g63. im stuck at 360awhp 375tq unless I want to forge everything. which my pockets are telling me no

 

not sure how it sounds on the newer truck but i love my Thrush on my 2nd gen, not to loud but has a good tone. It sounds about as loud as my magnaflow was and way cheaper

Yeah I knew that for whatever reason our Canadian buddies couldn’t get the previous models. Never understood that. I used to live in Vancouver, BC by the way.
