    Stock :/
Hello all! I have a 2017 Tacoma 4x4 Off-Road. It's all stock for now but man is it an upgrade from my previous daily driver '86 Xtra-cab. I'm loving the truck so far especially now with the snow we're getting. I'm in need of new tires though and that's what brings me here. I've searched and haven't come up the exact answer I'm looking for.

I want to fit 285/75r16 on the truck. I have just about $2000 to spend to make that work if possible to do so safely (not using spacers). I know there's some trimming plastics up front. What is the minimum lift I could get? Would just a 2" leveling kit be enough? What offset wheels would give the best clearance? And if I do need to lift it more, what is the most cost effective way of doing that?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!!

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
255 85 16 requires no trim or lift on OE wheels. 33".

Just an option to consider. Save $ and simplify.

I appreciate that, thank you. I am just in love of the look of the 285/75. Gives the truck that aggressive look! I don't mind spending the money

OP: $2k no spacers. Recommend you research and price the following:
    • Tires & wheels
    • Front end alignment
    • New rear leaf spring pack
    • Coilovers
    • Installation

But there's a lot of people claiming they run them without the coilovers, or rear leafs. I've heard of people just simply using a 2" leveling kit up front and the tires only rub at full lock or off-roading which I can live with for a couple months. Is that possible?

I would suggest to look at the placard on the driver's door jamb for the OEM tire size.

Stay with that size. Save your $$$ avoid lifts, spacers, wheels.........avoid hacking on the truck body.

Generally, a lift will impact the fuel usage and can bring on additional problems. Remember, a lift does not increase the size of the wheel well or the clearances to the suspension.

Despite what your read or perceive, these trucks are quite capable off-road in stock configuration.

Drive it for a year. Go on the trails you want. Then figure out if you need to modify the suspension.

Do mods for YOU, not for bropoints.
