Being young in a way makes you more able to afford that kind of ride..my guess is you don't have a mortgage or utility bills, so more $$ for your ride. Nothing wrong with that.

And I relate..I grew up in Hingham, MA, known for being a rich town. My parents are simple, frugal folks who bought their first home when they were very young and were able to buy good homes thanks to my dad's savvy in real estate. If you walked in my room when I was 14 you'd find a nice color TV, stereo, VCR, Nintendo and games..same every other kid had but I bought it all myself. I drove a few nice cars for a teenager thanks to going to auctions as well as buying cars just to flip them.

Enjoy your truck man..I went from a Colorado to a Tacoma, love my brother in law's Silverado but the mileage would be an issue for me with all I drive.

Nice truck. I hope you have better luck than I had with my 08 Silverado LTZ 1500.
16 trips to the dealer in 2011 and the first half of 2012!! Some under warranty...some not but all of them a pain in the a$$. It depreciated faster than I could pay it off and I no longer wanted or needed a full size truck.
Thats why I'm in a Tacoma now.......its only been 5 months but so far I love it.
That being said I'd still take my old Chev over my Dodge Ram before it...now that was a POS!!

Nice truck. Good luck with it. A friend of mines dad had a 2010 2500 with the 6.0 on a 6" lift and 35's. Thing was awesome but he traded it in on a Tundra just because the gas mileage was atrocious lol.

I never looked into it. I looked at The Tacoma in 07 when I bought my Chev but felt the full size was the better deal.
Boy was I wrong. The Chev retailed $7000 more than the Tacoma and was worth $3000 less 5 yrs later. I traded it with 70k miles on it and got a Tacoma.
Like I said, maybe yours will be better. I liked my Chev but it never treated me as well as I treated it!

Why do you think everyone faps over the idea of an oil burner Tacoma?

The peak torque was actually higher, but the dyno operator was having issues on the Bosch 32bit processors on the 2006 and newer trucks and was not able to get them fully loaded on the dyno below 2300. My peak torque was actually closer to 1800. There were never any concerns that I wasn't "on the curve" with that truck.
I could put it at 70mph on I-5, set cruise, and all the way up and down any grade I was completely feet-off with the combination of engine and trans braking programmed in that truck.
EFI Live is not unlike Techstream.
You use a notebook to reflash the ECU. Advantage is that you can do personalized tweaks to the program to fit your specific truck, needs, and driving styles.

My Bullydog allowed for tire size adjustment, but other than that, it was just "power level 0 through 4".
The Hypertech is the same technology.
All three reflash the ECU so there is no box on visual, but the ECU will retain evidence of the reflash even after the stock program is restored.

The TSS, Van Aken, and similar devices are "pass-through"... they connected to the harness between the ECU and the engine and "translated" between the two. The box would tweak sensor data to keep the ECU happy, and it would increase the injector pulse width to increase power. It was also able to bypass the rev limiter and top speed limiter the same way.
Advantage, it was a single connector install/remove.
No risk of a bad flash toasting the ECU.

Also much more expensive and more limited than the programmers.

Lemon laws apply to multiple trips (3+) for the same problem that the dealer is unable to resolve.
You could have 16 trips for 6 different problems and not trigger LL on any of them.

Here's what happens when you run just a little too much propane... He oiled the track down at 1000ft and still coasted through with a respectable time for a 3/4 ton truck!

    http://personal.linkline.com/rlockyer/llybad.wmv

They never found his oil filter.
I wish I had saved pictures of the block. Fist-sized hole where the oil cooler had been.

    back to bone stock.
Love the truck! If I could do it all over again I would have started saving when I was younger. Everyone saying he could afford the new rig because he is young and bill less. Is missing the lesson.

Hopefully you get it before the age when it clicked for me.
