I bought my 2020 back in April from Capital in Chattanooga as well. I had to make a lengthy drive up there, but the price was right and they were easy to deal with. Actually one of the better experiences I’ve had buying a vehicle.

No worries, that’s why I mentioned April. Don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. I was more referring to the fact that they were easy to deal with. The whole process was easy and straightforward. No run around or shady practices like some that I talked to.

I agree it’s a different market. My dad sold his 2018 with 32,000 miles back to our local dealer for about what he paid for it. It’s already on the dealer website and the “discounted” price is within $1,000 of the price on the window sticker he kept from 2 years ago.

There are no deals in my area that’s for sure. Nothing new on the lots and used selling for higher prices than new. Might need a broad search area and a fly and drive trip to find one you want, but I doubt it will be bought at a bargain. Good time to sell one though.

Prices have jumped hard in the last 6 months.
Bought a 19 dcsb premium with 7k on it in June for 34,000. Similar trucks are going for 39,000 now in my area.

Also I had to drive 4 hours away to find a decent deal

If you are still looking for a square body with a 350 then let me know. I could get you in contact with my ex because she has been debating selling hers for $9-10K. We are in NC, so not too terribly far if the deal worked out for y’all.

Either way, I hope you find a truck that you want for a good price. It’s tough out there right now.

    33mpg is for a 2wd silverado diesel....

Equipped similarly (v8 4wd) the chebby is only marginally better. That said rumor is the next tundra will be much more competitive fuel economy-wise.

Only problem with the Silverado is it will fall apart in typical GM fashion and that awesome gas mileage is either an expensive diesel or the 4 cylinder turbo turbo that will probably fail prematurely out of warranty. I would rather have less gas mileage and a truck that will actually last.

I was so close to selling mine to the dealer for $35k. My thinking was I could buy a cheaper used F150 or something, save some cash and ditch the payment... NOPE, even the f150s seem to be higher than what I expected and I cant find a decent one for under 20k with low miles, and even then we're talking 7-8 years old already. Guess I'm keeping the 'ol girl for now.

Trouble averaging 18 mpg in a stock Tacoma?

It sounds like someone is driving to work up hill both ways while spinning >3500 rpm and ECT on.

Car prices, new and used, are really high right now due to increased demand.
I was watching something on TV about this (60 minutes maybe?), people don't want to take public transportation during covid. Many are buying used.

Not sure if you or someone you know has a Costco membership, but it was the most painless car buying experience ever for me.

Costco gives you a price and a dealer. I took that price and contacted dealers within 100 mile radius, and almost no one would even match the price, let alone beat it. One dealer was very aggressive and wanted to go $100 lower, but to me it wasn't worth driving so far, and I don't think they had what I wanted. When I bought the truck, the sales guy didn't even try to sell me on anything. The only pitch I got was from the finance guy to buy an extended warranty.

    Worth a try.

Yep, and Covid isn't the only reason some urban dwellers (that didn't previously own a vehicle) are realizing they may need an escape route.

Before Covid shutdowns, I was averaging 15mpg and now with still lighter traffic in my area my commute is averaging 17-18mpg. My commute is literally uphill both ways. I live at 300ft, go to 1000ft, and work at 50ft. My previous car was a Mazda3 that got 26 on the freeway, but on my commute averaged 18.5mpg.

The ECT button is what makes the drive fun though:thumbsup:
