The story I told my insurance company (coincidentally, the truth) was that I was driving around a dirt road (no name, not on a map) that goes around a local fishing pond on base. I've been taking this route to get to fishing spots and a particular spot on the bank where I go to eat my lunch during busy days at work when I need a break for months. There have always been a few mud puddles in the trail but I usually don't even need 4WD and the hubs hardly ever get wet. This mud hole wasn't much different, just a little longer. I usually hit 4Lo and the rear locker just to be safe and never slip a tire. Well this particular day I go in, the front end gets sucked down the engine locks up and momentum takes me in deep enough to bury the exhaust too. Then I begin the half naked recovery. Well a couple weeks later a co-worker is out running around the pond and sees LMTVs...

PRACTICING FUCKING RECOVERY TRAINING IN THE SAME MUDHOLE THAT ATE MY TRUCK. And by recovery training I mean they drive into the middle, lock up the brakes, and bury the 40 inch tires and sink it to the frame and then spend the rest of the day getting it out by whatever means necessary. So my nice innocent dirty puddle got turned into a bottomless quicksand pit.

The claim originally went on file as flood damage, because rains has caused conditions to swell a little bit (thus not noticing new tire ruts or massive fucking changes to the hole). Then offroading damage when I couldn't produce or a street name or approximate address. Then finally after I explained the situation in a legal recorded statement, it was just an accident/water damage.

Even still when the appraiser went out he said the truck was repairable since all the damage was in the engine, $8,000 max if they bought a brand new motor. Water wasn't high enough to get the ECU behind the dash and all the electrical was fine (cause I replaced the starter my damn self). After the insurance company was financially committed the dealership found the fried ECU and locked up throttle body. My truck should have been totalled. Now it doesn't even have a salvage title. Just an accident on record and no carpet.

alright well took up our tractor and got my truck up in the building(butler building with big garage then two floor aprtment-sick place to spend the weekend!) to thaw out. It will turn over but not start. all electronics work fine. My subs even still work. Have diagnosed problem as the modules in the fuse box for the fuel pump and efi are out. This because no fuel is getting up to the fuel filter either because it is still frozen or one of the modules/ fuses is out. Before the truck was making no noise after warming up the starter it was able to turn over and sound like it was trying to start. So tomorrow i will change out the modules and once i get that fuel to pump through it should start. put anti freeze "heet" in gas to get any water in there out. I will change the oils after i get it running but the oil did not seem to be watered down.

No way i could have gotten it towed tractor was only way. it was down big hill climb was able to drift it down into the creek that it was across then tow it out of there and up the hill climb. calling tow truck would have been waste of time and money.

i broke a tie rod on my last truck when going through that much muddy water/soup. I had to leave the truck overnight the next day i break the ice around the truck and highlift the front out of the water, replace tie rod and lower the truck back into the waste deep freezing water. Thank god for fishing waders. i climb in truck starts up shooting water out the pipe. i back out truck runs for 10 minutes then quits. to make long story short the cat got clogged with water/mud and did not allow airflow. the o2 sensor fails adding fuel to the mix and fouls the cat along with the mud. A plugged cat will keep a truck from running.

this sounds exactly like what is happening with my truck. Ordered modules for efi and fuel pump should be in tomorrow around 8 depending on this snow:cool:. So did you have to replace the o2 sensor or just unclog the catalytic converter?
My truck was left overnight same as yours and when i go to turn it over it sounds as though the engine is not getting any fuel. changed engine oil and filter. for the life of me i cannot find the transmission stick if there is one? where is the transmission oil located?
