Stumbled upon the Colorado forum talking about what I assume is this thread and how crazy some people are (which I'll give them to a certain extent). Soon after they talk about how the Colorado and Tacoma are equals off road once you take off the air dam. Clearly there are delusional brand-loyal people on both sides!

I'm just throwing this out there...but I would prefer rear disc simply because they are easier to change...

I agree with that, but fortunately the rear shoes rarely need changing. I also like the fact that rear discs are easier to inspect.

Rear has little stop power compared to the front. You don't want too much rear brake. Non issue.

Honestly, I think all of us would prefer disk brakes. As a matter of fact it almost swayed my mind against buying a 16, but then I went online and saw almost no complaints on their performance on the Tacoma.

That claim has been somewhat discredited because vehicles like the 4 Runner and Land Cruiser have four wheel discs and both those vehicles are sold as serious off road vehicles.

As an Albertan who spent his first 47 years living on the polar ice cap aka Edmonton, AB I can say without hesitation ABS is the best thing since sliced bread when it comes to driving on hard packed snow and ice. When it is -40C or F stopping quickly on either is in direct proportion to how fast you were going and how far you think you can slide. :D Snow removal in Edmonton is definitely known as spring, the latter runs from June to August 30......then it gets cold again.

That can not be real. I mean nobody would be that stupid to praise drum brakes in 2016.
If this is true, this needs to go to places like Top Gear etc. Way too funny.
Fake hood scoop not something to be praising either.
Somebody in Toyota had lost his/hers mind.:rofl:

Meh, it's a sales sheet. It's not meant for the customer. It's meant to show sales what is different about their product and prepare them to answer the questions about what makes their product different. If you have some 21 year old walk in who doesn't know any better the scoop is a selling feature for example.

Agreed. I would say only a fraction of people who go into a dealer to buy a vehicle are truck or car geeks (who research things a lot) like many of the people on this site.

Simple flashy things like Go Pro mounts, hood scoops etc. make big selling points. Only have to look at the recent GM ads that push their 4G wifi service as the main selling point for their vehicle. Anybody with 1/2 a brain could just set up their cell phone as a wifi hotspot instead of paying a big $ monthly service for the GM service.

I couldn't care less if they do it. This in no way makes me want a Nissan....

1: I wouldn't lower it...and do ANY of the things that have been done to this truck.
2: If you wanna go fast, there are plenty of stock vehicles that would dust this truck....
3: That is ugly as hell....

No one cares about a land speed record in a truck lol. You already want the Nissan Titan XD, so anything they try is car porn for you. Which is fine.

If you've ever been in sales for a major company you'll know sell sheets aren't written to give a fair and unbiased opinion. they just highlight differences and features which help you complete the sale based on asking the customer questions and establishing how their needs fit your product.

Aside from then silly hood scoop the biggest issue I will have with my new Tacoma is the drivers seating position. Not for me but for my wife. She is about 5' 6" in heels. There is no way in hell she is going to be able to safely drive the Tacoma. The hood along with the scoop are just to high a line of sight for her. I am surprised the seat does not have a height adjustment. Maybe for the 2017 Taco if Toyota is listening. I know the Beach Boys wished all women were from California but they all can;t be tall. Canadian Tire may sell a seat cushion.....

What did sell me on the Tacoma is the historical quality of their products (3 4Runners, a Carola and an Avalon in our family recent history) and their resale value.

Buy GM and you might get a good truck or not and it may last longer than the warranty (neighbours engine in his 1500 died a month out of warranty) or you may not. Chrysler's Rams are the least expensive for a very good reason and Ford right now seems to have the best Domestic reputation if you ignore their Eco Boost engines. I nearly bought a F150 instead of the Taco - see the above for the two reasons why I did not.

My thoughts exactly. I love the Escape versus Equinox commercial where they compare two kids in the back sitting there with iPads (not included in an Equinox purchase, I asked a dealer friend over drinks just to bug him) to two kids kicking their parents seat in the Equinox. It doesn't even make sense unless you completely ignore the fact that they gave both kids iPads lol.

The funny thing will be when a slightly modified F150 (with the 5.0 L Ecoboost and they'll probably call it a lightning truck) breaks whatever record Nissan sets.
