Have you ever seen the Ford hot/cold testing? That would be fun with a Diesel. Basically they take the engine and they put it in a giant freezer. Then they let it warm up, freeze it to -20f, let it warm up, freeze it to -20 f... until something breaks. They stopped doing it because they figured they'd get sued if they showed whose engines couldn't handle it and now they only do it on their own.

Wow, gotta hurt to be Tacoma's development team; another big win for the twins with Motor Trend's Truck of the Year. (Again, for the second year, despite the '16 Tacoma being "New").

Although I'm quite sure Toyota couldn't be less concerned about Motor Trend's award.

Also, it wouldn't do much for the "rivalry" or advancement of the truck market if Toyota still won, even if deserved.

That's gotta hurt. Quality was supposed to a Tacoma strength.

I'm not sure it hurts, as Toyota has shown good faith in standing behind their product with fixing and replacing known issues. Meanwhile, GM, has been known to blow off, and hide from theirs....

You'd have been better with a Walmart brand exhaust...sheesh.

I'm guessing you don't have the 4.0 V6 with piston slap issues. Even for those under warranty, Toyota is saying they won't fix it, "it's normal" Can't be pleasant to spend 35K plus and have your truck sound like a diesel when it's not.

GM recently announced a recall to fix an oil leak on some V6 engines that are 15 yrs old.

So, Toyota is testing the market for diesels in the trucks by giving them the sound of a diesel and people are complaining...see, this is why we cant have nice shit...

I'm sure there are a bunch of engineers working hard in Tokyo trying to fix this problem. Toyota will deal with this just like they did with all the frame rust issues.

Thanks man, just trying to be supportive. This site is for people that love Toyotas right? Talking about problems just encourages the "Trolls".

Wow, lots of vitriol here. My first post, obviously. I drove both the Canyon SLT and Tacoma. Ended up with the Tacoma, but it was close. My first Toyota product. Wife has a Camry that has been absolutely bullet proof. I trade cars every year however, because I can. My opinion is that I liked the looks of the Tacoma better, liked the bed of the Tacoma better, better resale value, and I personally, have had bad luck with GM in the past. Early reliability reports from the GM look far from encouraging however from the good folks at Consumer Reports. They are currently testing the 2016 Tacoma, though I have little doubt it will be trouble free though. I much preferred the Apple Car Play and more room in the Canyon. Also had some nice safety features unavailable in the Toyota.

They are both nice trucks. Buy what floats your boat and be happy with it. In the end, the Tacoma just spoke to me more then the Canyon. I certainly wouldn't feel ripped off if I ended up with the Canyon though.

I cant help but notice that in your "supportive" post, you in fact spoke about...."problems" thereby being a "troll" and encouraging...lol
