You never know until you ask, whether they do it for free or not is another matter. You might want to specify the updated part and how to identify its marking too. I'm not sure if dealer parts inventories have been replaced with the upgraded part.

    Hell no.

People are talking about heat soak being the issue that kills them. I've idled mine at 110F for hours with ac and nothing failed

Subsequent to my post re this matter last Aug, a few months ago I had the engine warning light appear and also the "trac off" light. Eventually, the dealership diagnosed the issue as a problem with the catalytic convertor gasket, where the exhaust system meets the manifold. Replaced/repaired under warranty. BTW when the engine trouble light is on the dealership advised me that various systems, like cruise control, and, presumably traction control, no longer work.

Wow that sucks that it ended up costing you money out of your pocket like that.

If I order the CPS online will I be able to get the new revision, or is it just a crapshoot if I'll receive the older non-hashmark version? I'm going to order one and keep it in my toolbox just in case, but I'd like to know a place where I can order it from to get the newest version.

    Any suggestions?

I think the only way they would ship an old one to you was if it was accidently left in old inventory as I would hope they destroyed the old ones after the redesign.

Find one of our Toyota dealer vendors on here and they'd gladly help you. Jordan @Titus_Will_Toyota comes to mind and would be able to help for sure, if you linked him to one of the many pics of the latest and greatest CPS units found on TW.

Ok that makes sense. I'll put in an order wherever I find it cheapest from a dealership. Hopefully they don't have old stock!

Smitty. Did you end up just upgrading to the new CPS to "hopefully" ensure you don't have the issue down the road?

I may take you up on that!

Then I'm buying a new one and keeping the current one as a spare. I was out in the mountains today at least 40 miles in and if my CPS went bad I'd be royally screwed.

I believe anywhere between 90 to $100. Worth its weight in gold though for me. I am constantly off the grid hunting or exploring where no tow truck would ever be able to get to me.

Add Kevlar arm sleeves and Kevlar lined mechanix gloves for the trail gear :). It's a mother F'er to get to without an extension and swivel socket with hot engine.

Replace it. Provide vin. It's not like Toyota will come to your garage and tear it apart to look for the original.
