I would. Took me about 2 minutes to swap it. Actually spent more time trying to zoom in and take comparison pictures.
I left the tire on and just reached inside with a 10mm on an extension. Cake.
They are about $100 new but there are members on here that can get some discounts on Toyota parts.

When I looked at the recall for the CPS, I noted that it was for Sept 17th, 2015 to Oct something 2015...
I did not know that it included trucks in Feb. 2016.... Where did you see those dates..??

    The recall letter states:
    "MID SEPTEMBER 2015 - LATE OCT 2016"

OH crap. I musta missed the "Late Oct 2016" and thought it was "15"......

Thanx a bundle man... That makes more sense now...

My bad..! From what I can gather, my truck was made in 09/15....I might have the last of the good CP sensors.... Hope so.
I just don't know the actual date of birth, as the recall started at sept 17th 2015....

Mine gets great MPG...(28.8 cdn) on trip to B.C. and back... and has no issues, so I think I'm lucky... (fingers crossed)..

    Thanx again.. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

It's not the CPS that's supposed to be the problemo, but rather the coating on too much of it on the reluctor crankshaft gear that's giving us the issue

    Cheers

Any reason you went for the 89 sensor instead of the new 98 one?

Picked it up in the For sale section pretty cheap. I thought this was the latest one?

No, one ending in 98 is the one named in the recall and is the latest version. I don't think it makes much difference though.

How would you guys describe the feel of the motor with the bad Sensor? I've had a lugging feel (shutter, kicking/bucking) I could use many words to describe the issue, that normally kicks in around 3rd or 4th at 1200-2000 rpm on an auto trans. I thought I finally found the issue when I was on the recall list. But nope, the Sensor was replaced and I still have that miss fire feeling. I've heard rumors that there's some bad programming in the ECUs that are causing the issues.

I think you are probably correct, but the idea of having a spare just in case is not a bad idea.

Just had the cps recall done and it made a huge difference.
Feels like the truck has alot more power and less hunting for the right gear.

Congrats! Similar experience here after first replacing mine - let us know if / when you see declines in performance.

Did you reset ECU or just swap the part? Thanks
