OP, I'd say the Dewalt gun is a good choice because I own two Dewalt guns and I like them. But, there are lots of other good choices out there. I read some bashing on Dewalt guns and batteries but that hasn't been my experience. I'd say I use my guns just as much as any DIYer and probably more since our YouTube channel now has around 130 videos and a fairly large percentage of these videos involve using the impact guns. And, I'm not just using my guns to make videos. I've done lots of jobs on my own rigs and others that haven't been filmed so safe to say my Dewalt guns have been put to the test and have passed with flying colors. Also, no problems at all with batteries dying or not lasting very long. So, no complaints from Timmy the Toolman.

    Here's the ones I own:

    *Dewalt 3/8" Impact Gun https://amzn.to/2uqWnZy

I want one of those, too!

I'm not sure how the Milwaukee ones operate, but I've seen people (with air ratchets) manually break the nut or bolt loose, then hit the trigger to remove it the rest of the way.

I think they're best for light duty use, and getting into tight places.

I love my Milwaukee M12 Ratchet. But, they aren't worth a shit for breaking free fasteners unless the torque value is very low, like 80 inch pounds. What I usually do is break free the fastener with a standard ratchet then zip them out with the Milwaukee ratchet to save time. I've been using one for over 3 years. I also own their drill and Hackzall (their name for a reciprocating saw). They all work really well.

I had an air ratchet before too and I think coupled with my bear paws, was just not a good fit for me. I'm all about impulse buys with tools and rarely have bad luck. These, dare I say, "alternative ratchets" are one of the few things that bit me. Them and that linoleum knife.... but that was a different kind of bite.

I watched a video of a dude on youtube reviewing this ratchet and he kept dialing up the torque on a strut mounting nut. He claimed he got up to "80 ft-lbs" and the ratchet continuously broke the nut free instantaneously. I called bulls*** and noticed he was using a 1/4" torque wrench. Either he was getting payed handsomely by Milwaukee or didn't understand the difference between ft-lbs and in-lbs. lol In any case, Milwaukee said it only gets "up to" 55 ft-lbs (the lack of specifity leads me to believe there is some minor intent at coercion.

I love my rigid’s, the lifetime warranty made it pretty much a no brainer for me. No other competitors offer lifetime that I know of. I believe they are also made in Ohio whereas a lot of Milwaukee tools are made in China.

Rigid warranties are awesome. I hate the paperwork shenanigans to get them registered though. Have they improved that process? For all readers, check out AvE's tool teardowns on YouTube, it could very well be the deciding factor for anyone looking to buy!

The one handed M18 Hackzall with wood and metal blades might be the most handy have around the shop/yard/home tool I've ever had

Ask 10 dudes what power tools are best, and you'll get 11 different answers.

If you already have some tools with a particular battery, get one of those if they make one. They they don't make one, go to your favorite big box store and buy the 2nd least expensive one.

I'll second this. Overall, it comes down to what the user values most. I personally like the feel in hand of my DeWalt tools, but they simply aren't as durable as the M18 Tools. Now that being said, I have a 60V rotary hammer that I'm pretty sure I could throw at a foundation wall and it would crack the concrete. I'd say hands down that Hilti makes the best drills. No question. Festool would also be in my top 5, but only for reasons of accuracy in cutting and dust management not replicable by any other brand.

just found this one. Looks like a good deal with lifetime warranty. Anyone have an opinion on this one?

    Ouch!

Rigid and Milwaukee are both owned by a Chinese company, sadly. But, a guy needs tools.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy Rigid.

EDIT: 620 lb/ft is plenty! I'd buy that if I were in the market.

I've got it and love it. Haven't used it a ton but it's done everything I needed and saved me the hassle of getting all my pneumatic stuff out.

Torque ratings look shy of other manufacturers' (understandably for the price point). If you get that though, budget for the octane batteries with it as well. As I understand it, the Octane batteries and told have extra contacts that allow communication between the motor and battery to effectively increase the current draw under load. The older, and consequently cheaper batteries, won't allow you to even come close to the published torque specs on that tool.
