I've got several of the older Sunex that work great.

I would agree. What's interesting is that I use my Makita 18v 1/4 hex impact more than I ever thought I would. I use it around the house as well as on the truck and my other vehicles. I actually found that I used it more than my M12 3/8 stubby when I was replacing my head gaskets.

impact universal doesnt replace impact wobble sockets...
But in certain situations they can be very useful.
if you want to buy 1/2" wobble sockets & think you will utilize them, nothing wrong with that.
I was a master certified ford engine tech.
I replaced engines for a living, everything related to engine work, exhaust, cooling system / overheat concerns, oil / coolant leaks, clutches, manual transmission work, broken bolts & didnt matter who broke them, I was the expert to get them out without making matters worse...
I actually had cheap 1/2" Pittsburgh Steal / HF wobble sockets, think I paid $25 for the set. Since theyre 1/2" & bulky & didnt get daily use I never broke one.
For the most part youre not trying to get 1/2" drive impact wobble sockets in overly tight areas so the bulkiness really doesnt play a roll in the equation, but theyre fine as not overly bulky..

Thanks for the information. I found these 3/8 Astro Pneumatic ones in addition to the Sunex ones you listed. I wonder if anyone has used these before.

Btw, what are your thoughts on right angle impacts like the M12 3/8" one? I already have the M12 3/8 stubby. Thanks.

Astros look fine for what youre doing & cheap enough.
Ive use the Milwaukee's & cant go wrong there.....
But I dont own any, I do have a HF Bauer 1/4" impact gun/driver & used it in the professional field & its also been flawless.
Had a coupon & was on special, so think I paid $45 with battery & charger.

I would NOT get a 1/2" impact from MIL. personally, my apprentic had one & I just felt they were way to heavy, just nature of the beast though, not like I compared various manufacturers....
But if youre not getting a compressor, cordless is your only option & it is what it is...
Would be fine for the occasional tire rotation, I wouldnt want to be on my back trying to pull bellhousing bolts from a transmission using one...

I actually have a Makita 18v (xwt28z) 1/2 impact. Picked it up a few years ago. I sold off all of my IR air impacts as I found them to be very cumbersome to use and required a monster size compressor to do them justice. I’m pretty much committed to the Makita 18v line and recently the M12 line by Milwaukee. Ironically I use the Makita 18v 1/2 impact and a Makita 18v hex 1/4 impact over the M12 3/8 stubby. With that said I really like the size of the stubby and considering what I paid ($100) it’s hard to complain.
