Sounds like its easier to get a sport MT in the USA and make it an off road.

Sounds like it'd be easier to buy a truck with TPMS and transmission swap it than the other way around. Aren't safety regs fun? Wish Canada/US would just unify them like the EU has already, I want a Chevy SS.

I agree with everything in your post. I have tried several times to sell my 2018 manual truck into the USA. Reason is that with any other truck (F150, Silverado), you can actually get more than you paid originally after driving it for 3 years. I have never found an export broker who will take my truck, and that says a lot because they know every US customs officer and every trick.

I have read a couple of anecdotal reports (from the before times when the border was open), that I don't consider reliable, where people cross into the USA as a tourist and go to a Toyota dealer on the American side. There is an aftermarket cigarette-lighter type TPMS system installed in the truck. They ask for a recall and compliance letter from Bugtussle Toyota in upper NY state. I am not sure how many hundreds of dollars you have to slap on the counter, but a compliance letter that the US customs officer will accept gets printed out.

My 19 SR5 (auto) doesnt have TPMS either. I think only auto TRD models have them in Canada because as you said they aren't required. We do get a low washer fluid indicator unlike US trucks though!

Until the USA, Mayanmar, and Liberia go metric, or the other 192 countries on planet Earth go Standard Measure, there will be no harmony.

Countries using Standard Measure as of 2021:

It's fucking shameful. Numbers and math are a universal language, there's zero reason to muddle it up with antiquated units.

This was my immediate thought. The "upgraded" OR suspension sucks, imo. With the MT, he can just add a rear locker and essentially has an OR, minus the ATRAC but plus a hood scoop. If he really wants the stock OR suspension, it can usually be found second hand for like $200-300, but imo he'd be better off sticking with the sport suspension or upgrading to a budget system like Eibach or 5100s.
