In all seriousness do you think you can beat everyone's ass at that dealership if you had to? 1 at a time, no weapons

What worries me with this story and the other sorry about the TRD exhaust is that the tech or any of the staff do not know the product they're working on. Maybe it's laziness or they just don't care because it's just a job. Kind of sad, I'm glad you got it resolved op

If you bought the Toyota ones and a dealership installed it, then it'll be likely covere under warranty. If you did the install yourself, it wouldn't be because for all they know you did the install incorrectly.

My sunroof leaks, but no carpet/fabric is wet that I can find, and it smells like mildew after it rains and my dealer says it's normal for the sunroof to leak. I videoed it parked in my work parking lot, while it's raining and it's leaking all the way across the back part of the sunroof, even after my dealer replaced the gasket/seal. If my dealer can can prove to me that every Tacoma with a sunroof leaks like mine, I guess I can accept it, but want to know where the the mildew smell is coming from. I've called Toyota corporate to file a claim. I should be getting a second call back from them today.

I believe the actual Toyota parts, if purchased on your own, come with a 12 month warranty. Some do at least.

This whole story is quite surprising to me. Normally our AK Toyota dealer is better than that. Here's to hoping they do the right thing without any more hassle.

Impressive. I'm 68, but at 30 I would have pulled the service advisor over his desk and strangled him. After broken arms (both sides) I'm a calmer old guy now, plus a wife who is rational. Moral - you got what you wanted.

I'm arguing with Toyota over the lack of greaseable u=joints on 16s and 17s. Customer service reps in Plano are very nice, but clueless in engineering. We'll see.

I'd be impressed if they offered you a couple of free oil changes or perhaps a gift card for the Parts/Accessories Dept. in exchange for your time and brain cells they wasted.

I'd rather not think of all the $ spent :(
The violence references were merely fun in the story. And years ago, I wouldn't have thought about it long enough to make a difference. I would acted instantly, which is stupid and got into trouble; and still had the busted light! Luckily, I've had some wise folks in my life depart some wisdom over the years. I spent the last 20 years thwarting Darwinism, overseas and here at home. Having hot head teenagers myself now, I've calmed down a lot.

I was simply trying to point out for the younger folks here that might listen, to step back and think before you act. I had a problem and the local guys couldn't fix it. I went higher and it is getting fixed. I didn't threaten anything or anyone. I double checked, made sure I was right and carried on.

I know the Devil Dog in you still could, you just have control over the beast now;)

I'll rather have them install it then. I think that would prevent problems with the warranty.

    ***UPDATE***
Initial call from Toyota USA Corp Friday 7/14/17
was told dealership had 2 business days to contact me with a solution
    Call from local dealer 07/19/17

Service manager called and was cordial. He explained tech wasn't familiar and brought him the light while my truck was in. The manager wasn't familiar so he said no because the parts book showed only the one.

The head parts guy (is now back from vacation and is evidently the only one that knows Toyota has a special website for the Pros) They now have my fog light on order, estimated 2 weeks (Alaska so that's normal) I know manufacturers do odd things, but I find it hard to believe a paint code, grill, badges, shocks, wheels and fog lights deserve a special site. Am I alone? (I know there's other items but I think that's all that's exclusive to the Pro) Apologies if I missed something:crapstorm:

The service manager was smooth, had an explanation for it all. Never apologized or admitted any fault by his staff. He basically blamed corporate for not letting them know. I'm going to try and hire him after I get my light.

    to be continued....:goingcrazy:

That's unfortunate that you didn't get so little as an apology, but at least it's all getting resolved!
