Perfect place to bolt a turbo. One on each side!

Aftermarket headers would be dope. Wonder if this is in the works in any garages...

There is no header. The exhaust ports are inside the head and all three dump into one exhaust port. The exhaust pipe bolts directly to the head.

I think match porting is as good as your gonna get on this set up but probably not worth it unless you have it off already for different reasons

Anything would be a waste of time if you can't improve (remap) everything on the intake side.

Just my opinion, Toyota has become more concerned with making the gov/EPA happy than the consumer. That could be because the gov has a strangle hold on them or just because they don't care. I don't know. Again, that is just my opinion.

none of the stuff will improve your useable torque/hp. You're just going to kill the bottom and add it to the top end.

It's not that much bigger than a 1st gen. Why can my 2.7 hold 75 on a slight uphill with a headwind if a 3.5 can't?

I mean it CAN...if you call 3700 rpms in 4th gear holding it.

idk why...gearing, lacking of low end torque maybe?

If you have it on cruise its almost unbearable, you can control it more without it.

I'm curious if anyone will make a chip or tuner for this motor cuz with that dual injector system they should be able to really dial in that fuel and as for the 4th gear runs the 5th and 6th are overdrives no vehicle will pull hills or head winds in overdrive

    Turbos....
The Scion FRS guys are putting them on the direct injected D4S. The port and direct injector combo gives more options for tuning, but the real problem is that there is no demand for a turbo kit for the Tacoma. Not enough people would buy it to justify the cost of the R&D to develop it. There would be a few people who would buy it, but most people would not spend 10k on a 35k truck just to be able to accelerate up a hill at 75mph with a head wind without having to shift to a lower gear.
