It was slightly downhill the entire time. That second one where I averaged a bit over 29 mpg was going from around 7,000 to around 4,500 over that 100 or so miles.

Edit: The total round trip was 279 miles which involved driving into the Uintas in Utah. Overall we average mpg according to Fuelly was 24.7 mpg running Maverick 87 octane.

Don’t think I’ll be hyper miling with this. I’m familiar. I got 25mpg in WY going flat but that was stock.

    Put that front deflector back.

I never went below 20 mpg since I got the truck and I commute daily in one the worst metro traffic in US. ..and hills.

    Stock and staying that way
You don't have to get crazy with it, but knowing about fuel cut on deceleration helps a good bit.

Plan your trips so you are driving in the same direction as the Earth’s rotation. A lot of people don’t believe it, but it works.

Closest I could find to an online answer is below. The difference is so small to be imperceptible, but had to do with the perceived mass of the vehicle when it comes to overcoming inertial forces. I had an old science teacher who told me that it was measurable over a 1000 mile road trip, but only if wind and traffic were somehow identical in both cases, so mostly I was being a smart ass with my answer, but it is true.

What’s really crazy is the earth is spinning around a 1000mph.

24,300 er so miles around the belt
    24hrs in a day

Sorry if I missed it in prior post but what modifications have you done? Have to lifted the truck, put on larger tires, added weight with a steel bumper or shell? All of these will significantly affect mileage. The best mileage you're going to get is with a factory stock truck and maybe lighter, skinnier, higher pressure tires.

I drive 35 miles to work and 75% of it is stop and go. I may have more than 50 feet between corners and lights but it's 35 miles that takes me 80+ minutes. I average 20-25mph

My AC makes a big difference. I get 25-26 in the morning on my way to work without it. Same traffic on the way home and I get 18-19. I drove 80mph on my first quarter of the tank I'm on right now and I'm at 21 right now. Lower than normal. I am pretty sure it's because aside from long interstate drives in a 70mph zone when I go 80, I don't drive like I'm 16. It's the same reason I felt zero improvement from the transmission software update.

That would only work if the earth was rotating. It's flat, we all know that.

Are you OVTuned? If not that must be why. I can’t get below 16.5mpg if I drove normal and not lead footed

I’m all stock except for wheels and tires that came as an offroad package from the dealership.

Keep your air dam and lose the aftermarket equipment. I’ve never heard of anyone getting better mpgs with mods. Sure, your truck won’t be as pretty, but it will certainly sip with its pinky up instead of guzzling gasoline
