The only rental car I've ever had break down on me (or heck, even have something wrong with it) was a Jeep Renegade. The transmission jerked hard on downshift, wipers only worked on high speed, and the car actually broke down one of the days I was on work travel. Turned out to be some electrical issue.

Car had 1,100 miles on it.

Wrangler is the Jeep brand. For better or worse.

People buying Renegades and Compasses are in fact buying a piece the Wrangler brand. I agree that they are not the same. But apparently there’s enough people out there willing to buy into it.

Wranglers hold their value well. Gladiator will like hold its value, too. Nothing else in the Jeep lineup does, though. Not even Grand Cherokee. Still, a lightly used Grand Cherokee can be a hell of deal.

Getting quite a bit off topic, but Subaru used to be named Fuji Heavy Industries. Post-WWII Fuji made a Vespa-like scooter named the Fuji Rabbit.

I mention the Rabbit because I bet I'm the only TW member that has owned one.

They still say Fuji Heavy Industries on the vin labels.

I stand corrected. I was helping a family member with a lifetime warranty claim on the drive train and was really disgusted by the lack of accountability.

I guess I talked to too many people who disliked Jeep and it stuck with me.

Renting at the Nashville airport, I had a choice of 4 renegades, then the manager comes out and says, sorry these need service.....all of them.

I drove a windowless white cargo van off their lot.

My brother’s 2015 Renegade Trailhawk with 40,000 miles just got a brand spanking new transmission, replaced under warranty.

They’ve had nothing but one issue after another. They are done. They plan to trade it in. Still trying to figure out what else to get.

    A few.
Toyota is supposed to be coming out with a vehicle to compete with the renegade. They had a concept prototype at one of the car shows.

Tacoma may be last in the horse race, but will also be the last to kill over on you!
