In bed tire carrier on the cheap

Two wheel chocks screwed to a board. Strip of non-skid tape on the bottom of the board. Snugged up by the bed divider. Not 100% theft proof but I’ve added to the degree of difficulty.

 

Looks good, where did you get the bed divider?

 

It’s a Toyota accessory. About $275 new but I got mine on Craigslist for $150.

 

Good idea but you are adding to the taco lean with driver tank and spare all on the left

 

You could also just ratchet strap it against the back of the bed.

 

I like it, someone is really going to have to want it to cut the cable and yank it out of there. What size tires/wheels and where did you get the spare wheel? Looks new, and I'm shopping around for a 17" steel for my spare right now.

 

Tire is a 265/70/16 on the factory spare steel wheel just cleaned and painted.

 

Never seen that divider, pretty cool. In all honesty I don't think its any easier to steal than the OEM location is anyways if the person is looking to take a spare and knows how to do it so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

 

Turn the tire and use the divider to lock it in place. Doesn't block your view that way.

 

I haul my snow tires that way. Simple.

 

What happens when you hit a pothole at speed? What keeps it inside the bed?

 

Good point guess you could use strap it down with rachet straps.
