Been here a while but my first post!

Has anyone came up with a way to cover the in bumper lightbar without removing it? State inspection is coming up for me and I guess the word is they’ve been cracking down here in VA. Any advice is appreciated!4D7A13FE-0E9E-4B68-A6B3-32475CEB307F.jpg

Cover it with a black neoprene rubber strip.

Can you get to the top of the light bar behind the grill? If so, you could get a piece of 90 degree aluminum the same length as the bar, spray it satin black and attach it with adhesive Velcro strips on the top of the light bar so it hangs down and cover the face of it.

This is a good idea. I’ll probably stop by home depot and see if they have something like this.

I had to move the transcooler to get the light in place and I’ll probably have to do the same for this idea as well. Thanks for another good idea though!

They care if you have extra parts on your ride? Why does it matter if they aren't in use? Weird.

Usually at the most inconvenient time in your life  but really it’s annual headache, just like registration.

Its really just the state being a pain in the ass. It seems the VA state troopers are probably hearing it from their bosses so naturally everyone else is getting effected.

If any state troppers in here, let us know what’s up! Haha.

Makes sense... we could use annual inspections in Canada judging by a lot of vehicles I've seen. Doesnt exist up here!

VA inspection is not that bad. I just cover my 4runner fogs.

Have you seen some of the crappy cars on the road around here?

I second just covering it. Va sucks with the registration. It also depends on where you take it. Some places are more anal than others when it comes to lights, mirrors etc.

You can pry these lights from my cold dead hands! :oldglory:

I like the 90 degree angle sheet idea, just think it might be more hassle to shove the rascal in there, but then again I don’t wanna stick adhesive stuff to the lens if I don’t have to.

I swear the worst cars still pass inspection around here its nuts!

Yeah we had someone who passed my cars back in the day no problem but looks like the troppers blew up his spot and took away his inspectors license :notsure:

I nearly got a ticket driving through CA years ago for having off-road headlights without covers on. Cop explained that you can have non dot complaint lights on a vehicle, but they have to be covered. I put an old pair of socks over them, cop let me go.

I thought California was bad. We have smog inspection after 5 years, but their not looking for led light issues. Maybe buy a piece of 3/4" foam pipe insulation and the tuck it in front of the light to cover it.
If that doesn't fit try a piece of roofing L-metal

How did you wire it up? Any way to pull the wire or flip a breaker? If it isn't powered, it is just for decoration, yeah?

This is a solid solution, not sure if it'll fit through the bumper a bit tight in there. I'll definitely look into it though. Thanks!

I could take the relays/fuses out, but I still think it needs to be covered under VA law.

Do you use this? This looks promising as well.
