Can anyone recommend a small tool kit for keeping in the truck? Been looking at ~26 piece craftsman kit but wondering what you’re all carrying around

I just grabbed this on Amazon for $13 (“used”) since my 210-piece kit is too bulky.

Curious as to what failures you think you’ll have; what parts you may have to remove & replace; how far from assistance you plan on being... all that info is required to provide an accurate list of items. I’m usually within cell phone coverage, therefore I only carry my mobile device.

I live for these posts tbh.

OP: The Amazon kit above is fine. Depends what you need it for I guess.

I carry a tow strap, duct tape, jumper cables and my knife. Seriously, what are you gonna do with a tool kit to your truck?

Help me out here... what bolt or nut are you going to tighten.

    Easy there Dennis.

The one I use is from Amazon. I added a breaker bar and a torque wrench to it though just in case.

Agreed, if I’m on pavement, my best tool is my AAA card. But, I do carry a good amount of tools.

Off pavement trips always get a special kit, depending on the specific trip. But on road, where most of us live 99% of the time, a full tool kit is just added weight.

I had my clutch slave cylinder completely fail a long way from home on my older Toyota pickup. Limped it to an Orileys autoparts. Bought a small portable tool kit, a couple adjustable wrenches new slave cylinder and some brake fluid and repaired it there in the parking lot. It was being a PITA and I was hungry and irritated so I called Dominos and had them deliver a pizza to my truck and had lunch on the tailgate. Finished the repair and drove home. I still carry that tool set in my truck to this day. You’d be surprised how often it comes in handy.

Sure a tool kit won't get you out of the ditch but it'll sure as hell make your life easier when you're away from home and need to mess around with any kind of disassembly. Even something as simple as disconnecting the battery...

OP, any combination of ratchet set, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, knife will serve you well. And don't forget a flashlight!
