In case you are curious why Toyota used a front cab mount that is so big...

I worry about wheels and suspension, but you forget that this is also what you pay for when you buy a vehicle... (at least I do)

I will say that I got into a head on collision (into a Jeep, both of us going at hwy speed). This was with the 2010 Taco in my profile pic. ARB bumper and 3 inch OME lift. Everyone survived and I did look at the cab mounts afterwards (did NOT have a CMC). The front passenger wheel was completely crushed against the cab mount, tire popped and rim crushed, every single front suspension item torn in half (LCA, UCA, axle torn out, shock shaft broken, sway bar broken). Wheel and hub assembly was completely torn off but stayed in the wheel well supported by the weight of the truck. The cab mount was bent back, partially peeled off the frame and almost ripped off. The frame was bent about a foot inward where the cab mount was attached.

Anyone thinking this could never happen to them, they drive carefully etc etc... all it takes is one person to fall asleep and come around a corner on your side of the road giving you less than one second to react. I was glad I had my sway bar back in and no CMC. What would have happened with a CMC? who knows. But seeing how close it came to failing I would never risk a CMC.

Also people say that they have lifts and offset and therefore somehow the cab mount becomes less important. Ever consider that just before a heinous collision that you might try to steer out of the way, and the wheel won't be pointing straight ahead?

Also it should be noted that the 3rd gen now has much larger and beefier from cab mounts than the 2nd gens had.

Off topic but watching how the driver side A-pillar airbag deploys gives me ideas on how best to rig my own grab handle w/o impeding airbag operation...brain storming...brainstorming...recalculating...
